Food flavourings from supermarkets?

Good evening everyone,

Sorry - absolutely certain this has been asked many times before...

Are supermarket food flavourings an absolute no-no for DIY mixing?

I was in Tesco today and a salted caramel caught my eye....

I had a brief look on the interweb and there seems to be so much contradictory info.

If the food flavourings are good to go, just more convenient popping to the supermarket rather than waiting for postman - but safety first :-)

I believe some can have oils in them so it is advised not to use them, there may be some that don't but it would need a lot of detective work so it is simpler to get it from the various sources available be that a B&M store or online

I also think most of them are weaker, so a false economy

As above, usually the supermarket flavourings are weaker than the ones we use for vaping.
They also may contain stuff not recommended for vaping, such as oils, diacetyl, and other diketones, sugars, etc. which will likely not be declared, as they are fine in foodstuffs.

In the coil gunker stakes Salted Caramel is in a class of it's own.

I had to retire one of my favourite DIY juices because of it.
