Hi folks, I have finally taken my first step into mixing. I have ordered some pre-mixed base at 50/50 and four concentrates (the flavour apprentice) my question is what do you think is the best rate to mix this at to start 10/15 20%, I haven't a clue to be honest.

I always start on 15% myself if they are a single flavour and work from there.

Which concentrates have you selected wil7985? As someone may have experience of them - although taste as we know is subjective, but their thoughts may help to give you some guidance as well. Additionally, I would stick to small samples of anything you do make whilst you get to grips with your flavours and tastes.

wil7985If you are using 'one-shots' you could make up a small sample at around 12% - this should give you an idea of whether it's too weak/strong, and then adjust from there. Perpetua's suggestion of making up small samples first is good advice though; it might seem more time-consuming, but the end results will be much better and you'll learn far more in the process. If these first trials are successful (and there's nothing to suggest that they won't be), some 'shake-and-vape' one-shots would be a good stopgap while you wait for some of the more complex mixes to mature. If you could let us know which flavours and makes you have we can guide you a bit more

Many thanks for your replies, the concentrates I have are The Flavor-Apprentice, Gingerbread / Oatmeal cookie / Cinnamon Danish and RY4 Double flavour. All from the e-cigshop.

Cinnamon Danish makes a lovely ' standalone ' wil7985 . . . . I use 20% VG heavy, you'll maybe want to start lower - it also takes a couple of weeks steeping at least to be at it's nicest. TFA's Gingerbread I found a bit ' atomic ' for my tastes, it's pretty potent - so I'd go steady with the ratios with that. Maybe try a Gingerbread Oatmeal Cookie combo? ( Capella's Gingerbread is much smoother, so if you see any percentages/recipes suggested for that it's worth just keeping in mind. ) The other two I've not tried . . . . if you type in a key word on ELR it should also throw up some suggestions: e-liquid-recipes.com/list?q=RY4+Double
