Thinking about the future and 'moving forward' (one demerit for cliché) what's the thinking about hardware? I keep searching after new shinies, but the mod's aren't going anywhere are they? What about tanks? Should I bag a couple of big-uns or just expect China to send me a few through customs? Anyone know anything? TIA Dave.

The way Teresa is pissing off the Chinese over Hinckley Point, I wouldn't be too sure about future exports from China.

Yes tanks, probably, by the letter of the law anyway, although I'm optimistic that China will still ship and they will still be delivered. But the crazy USA restrictions could well affect what gets produced and I expect less choice going forward, that might be good for some or the lower end producers who often rush too market before the designs are quite ready. The concern for us is innovation and price, up until now the first has trended upward and the latter downward, that may be reversed soon.
Mods aren't going to be restricted in the UK, but innovation may be thanks to the FDA and after a couple of years, around 16 mods with zero failures* I will stick with Evolv, although mostly as nothing else gets close to the vape quality IMO.
* I did have one failure with experimental fw as part of the beta group, a screen cable failure on a DNA 200 I didn't build, both replaced by Evolv, I also have 2 DNA 40s with screen glitch that I doesn't bother me enough to get the boards changed, they vape perfectly.

If China wanted to retaliate for the delay over Hinkley Point, they'd restrict UK exports to China rather than what the UK is importing (priced in US dollars!) from China. The first signal would probably be an announcement that Chinese companies are considering moving their European HQs from the UK to EU countries due to doubts about Brexit (as the Japanese government has just done)...

I was merely trying to head off another falsehood being accepted as fact, as so often happens these days.

A 2ml + tank will be basically a no-no. Good luck to the vape police on that one.... can you imagine trying to stop the auction-site sellers.
Most of my packages from China are low value gifts anyway (according to the declaration).... I don't believe they ever get opened up.
Coils (factory atomiser heads).. ? Surely not...

Having spent the last 6+years stocking up for an Apocalypse which was purely on the strength of my love of shopping and the joy of vaping . . . . I think it's safe(ish) to say mine and vaping friends future is assured, I've enough gear in this warehouse home for several decades!
However, I don't take anything for granted ( although realistically HMRC just don't have the manpower to scrutinise every little parcel from China! ) so if it makes anyone feel more secure and confident in having a few extra tanks, mods in their stash - then do it I say. For what these items cost, it's a worthwhile investment in my eyes.
None of us know really how the full implementation of the TPD is going to pan out do we, until it happens.

So, do you think should I help my less informed vaping friends stock up on their chosen medium-sized tanks by ordering now from China? I'd hate to not order something now and find there are obstacles getting things near the end of the year. As you say, we'll not know for sure but I like to help.

I don't think it will happen that quickly, in this country I think we will be able to get anything available shipped in, but UK based will be restricted. To some extent the future will be shaped by how the enforcement of FDA regs affect the product ranges on offer, I think it will hurt the small players trying to create a brand on a shoe string, but who knows how it will affect the small no name produces (cloners).

I don't see the harm in doing that djs . . . . although I wouldn't go overboard, if buying a couple of tanks now help provide some future assurance to your friends - then that's a positive for me.
