Reading that I would say it was probably neat nic upto 7.2% (72mg) and the amount of alcohol drunk was a mitigating factor as was his frame of mind

Imagine that, who would have known that consuming products in a way not intended by the manufacturer could be harmful or possibly deadly.
This coroner is an idiot the product isn't the danger, misusing the product is dangerous.

On a serious note, I also find the casual reporting of a persons demise by this online newspaper has little merit . . . .

Sloppy and unprofessional journalism.

This man took his own life. Perhaps the author of this piece of lazy reporting should actually go to the trouble of establishing facts for people.

What did he ingest; how much, what strength?

This incident is not "a hidden danger of e-cigarettes"... it simply proves Nicotine can be dangerous if mistreated.

It's very sad.

Very sad for his family and friends who are left to pick up the pieces.

Also sad, as already said before, that the quality of journalism is so low.

Fact is, if someone wants to "do themselves a mischief", then no amount of rules and regulation will stop them.

Of separate interest from the article is the quote:

This is a very rare occurrence and we do not see very many deaths by ingestion of liquid nicotine.

So many everyday things around our homes and work can hurt us. Despite the number of folk who vape and the amount of liquid nic around, there are so few deaths or injuries from nic ingestion that the coroner felt it worthy of remark. That has to say something about how responsible users are and/or how relatively harmless liquid nic is when used responsibly.
