Vaping in the presence of children your views!

This has probably been discussed but was just wondering what peoples thoughts were?

I don't vape in front of children - I was asked by a small boy once, on a beach, if my Tornado was a cigar! I decided then that discretion saved complicated explanation. We don't want to encourage children to put anything alien into their lungs over and above what just breathing entails.

I don't really have children anymore, my youngest is 17!

He's really happy that I'm 'vapourising' rather than smoking!

Difficult one when you have younger children I suppose. I would certainly refrain from calling e-liquid 'juice'!

I wouldn't judge anyone though for vaping in front of children!

Hi Foxy, when I was a smoker I used to go out side with the door closed and the kids would be forever opening the door so really defeated the purpose of me going outside in the first place! My eldest is nearly 7 and she knows the dangers if smoking from school so was always telling me off. The first ecig I got was a looky likey and when she saw me in the house she asked mummy why are you smoking inside so I explained it to her in detail . Mummy smoked cigarettes because of the nicotine and this is a healthier way to get that she did ask can I try but then I told her that nicotine was poisonous to children just like medicine can be. She has never asked again but does occasionally say that smells like whatever and asks me what flavour. My daughter is quite advanced for her age so I know this would not be the case with every child so I am quite lucky in that respect . The only thing I don't do is vape when they are in close proximity just out of respect for them because they are not old enough to be asked if its ok but my hubby quite happily let's me vape in bed !

Well this is what I thought karma I would rather my kids see me vape. than smoke the damage of the habit of nicotine by inhalation will already have had its impact on them this I can't undo

And good point on the juice liquid issue I have always called it my nicotine liquid !

Me and my partner both vape in front of the kids, we have no worries about it. They know the dangers of smoking and they are happy that we vape, they also know not to touch any of the e cig stuff including the liquids.

Very good views it's certainly making me think twice about vaping round them but I don't want to lock my self away either as I do spend more time vaping than I ever did smoking and I am at home most of the time ! Any suggestions anyone ? Feeling a bit guilty now

They are 15,13 and 10. The youngest has eyes like an eagle and will notice any new goodies I have purchased grrrrr

As your children get older they will witness and experience far worse things from their peer group than seeing their parents vape.

I presume the people that will not vape in front of children never consume any alcohol in front of children?

Well to be really honest it never entered my head to hide this from them as in my eyes it was a healthier alternative not only for me but for them they saw me smoke but not round them if I could help it but the vapour is harmless I didn't really consider the psychological effect because like I said before the damage had already been done with the nasties seeing mummy puffing away is not a new thing I just don't leave the room to do it now ! In essence I spend more time with them. I may be wrong in what I am doing but then I worry over every aspect when it comes to my kids . It is good to get other peoples views ,parenting is such a responsibility!
