Any body use SS wire on a mech? Does it ramp up slower than a similar gauge of Kanthal? Ive ordered my usual gauge of A1 in SS on the assumption for a similar resistance Ill get a fatter coil with more wraps. Yes I have been on steam engine to look see. Yes it did go straight over my head.

Yes I have been on steam engine to look see. Yes it did go straight over my head. I've been messing around with the steam engine calculator. I want to turn all my RDAs into SS builds. It's doing my head in. Do I know how long my legs are? You've got to be kidding. All I want is two nice coils in the 0.8 to 0.9 range... to make a nice 0.4 ish build. I can't see any problem with using SS with your mod. If you work it out let me know. At the moment 28 AWG is the winner I think. But I'm not sure...

I had it all figured out till I started messing around with the heatflux colour chart thingy. djs Im fixing to get a single coil of around .9 to an ohm maybe a smidge lower depending on the ramp up. I ordered AWG 27 (.36mm) SS, my never ending spool of kanthal is .32 so i went slightly higher for the SS.

EDIT: forgot to ask bones3 what do you use the Non-Res-Non wires in??? I keep having a play with the sophia now and then.

phtumshki use NR-R-NR in all my builds as it stops the exposed legs gettin over heated i have various thicknesses of ss wire some 316L some 304 i could send a couple of mts os each of what i have for you to play around with before you go off buying spools of the stuff (as we have all done that and have it sitting in a draw never to be used)

Yes you can use SS on a Mech. Ramps up much quicker than Kanthal.I wouldn't bother too much about your resistance, you can add more wraps and get a bigger coil but 0.2 difference isn't going to hurt you or your batteries.

The one thing you have to take into consideration is that stainless is not a resistance wire as such ,like kanthal ,but it does have resistance in it just not as much as resistance wire , so you have to use more and have more wraps to your coil

Im only getting about 5/6 wraps of .3 kanthal for 1 ohm . Was fine in the kayfun but attys like the tilemahos I seem to have a lot more juice/wick that is swamping the coil. Fine with a regulated mod you can just turn it up but I much prefer to use mechs these days.

The fast heat up effect is partly because the resistance rises as it heats. For a given voltage you get more power at the beginning.
EG 0.2 ohm (cold) 316 coil @ 4 V @ room temp uses 80 W @ 450 F the res will rise to about 0.24 ohm and use 67 W
Not that any mech (battery really) will give 4 V @ 20 A

Thank you Jon. Please learn battery safety everyone. There is no regulation. And if you stress a battery (cell), it gets angry. And when they bite, they don't let go. I added this post for people who are new to vaping. Not to be condescending. Which it sounds.
