Just a heads up to any windows 10 users out there. Last time I shut down it gave me the update and restart / update and shut down options
I updated and shut down fine but when I restarted it took ages for the update to install (about 45 minutes) with 3 restarts in between. Apparently its a major update (there calling it the anniversary update I think) so be prepared to wait while it installs when it happens to you.
Not really checked out all the changes yet but its no doubt mucked about with all my privacy settings

I had a few registry issues from some previous updates that were really slowing down my laptop, this update resolved them all. Yes it takes a while but it's worth the wait

The Anniversary update is a major one and some other updates are sometimes required, I think a couple of security updates which need a restart after which the Anniversary one begins and also does a restart, and yes it has improved some things for many and not so for a few, which will be the ones most folks will hear about.

Ohhhhhh - Windows 10 :-(
I absolutely swear the last update killed my laptop completely - I know it was absolutely bug-ridden.
I also found it incredibly frustrating that I could be in the middle of something and my laptop would just say "Ha ha ha - I'm updating - Right now - don't care what you are doing"
Ended up having to do a factory reset as it was so screwed up.
Now VERY happy with Windows 8 again - I love seeing those "You should upgrade to Windows 10" messages - not likely, matey.

Each to their own on that, I avoided win 8/8.1 hated it before it was fully released and took my time before moving to win 10 and so far it has been working pretty well.

Thanks for the heads up charliehorse I'm now glad that I didn't shut down & update earlier - I'll wait for when I can get on with something while it's installing

That update came out a few weeks ago
You can also set windows 10 to only restart when you want and not when it wants

According to my check, my laptop is up to date as of tonight. That means I already have the Anniversary Update....must have installed almost without hiccup. I did pull out the battery once last week when it was being a silly bugger, maybe that was it?

Mine has tried to update a few times, but for some reason doesn't install properly and rewinds back to the previous version. Haven't a clue why or what the problem is. Chrome updated and that was a real pain in the ar$e. Wrecked all my ad settings.

And I can do all I need to do on it for self Printers are awkward - (3 hours to set up my latest one!) but still! Guys quit ranting - Linux (remember Libre office) or chromebook and remember it'll soon be Christmas LOL Jane

Update took about 30 mins here, but likely due to me being on fibre and only 20ft from the box so we get 67-71 mbps, ad recently changed to a SSD drive that makes a hell of a difference.
