Oddly shortly before England and Scotland made it know they would wear poppies, FIFA released a press statement saying they have never banned the wearing of poppies. It may go to a FIFA committee to decide if they break the political, commercial or religious rule. FIFA must have better things to do. A shame that it was even mentioned on this day.

Yes it was a win but it was only Scotland, they need to start quicker against better opposition.

I feel sorry for Strachan as he is likely headed to Edinburgh Castle to have his head lopped off by the Wicked Witch of the North, but I'm still not sure England have the right manager either. The press seem to think Southgate has it in the bag, but while we won, and on the surface the scoreline looked convincing, the performance had a lot to be desired and Scotland were in many ways unlucky. As Vlad the Inhaler says, against better opposition things probably would have been the other way round. Anyway well done to the players and Southgate for wearing a poppy.

FIFA were one of the main reasons I retired as an SFA referee in 2014. The directives they dish out and bomb scare decisions they make in Zurich, from behind a desk, only make the game harder for everyone concerned. Just another organisation that make sure the blazers at the top have their pockets well lined. Thankfully I'm not pouring money in them anymore.
