I've got around to re-wicking the Gille coil with my preferred rayon instead of cotton and I'm liking it very much. I took a few pics so that you could see the difference with the updated coil.

Firstly with the used coil and old cotton removed.

Now with the coil cleaned in an ultrasonic bath and a light scrub with these handy brushes.

Then the new rayon wick inserted

Now a quick trip to the barbers for a trim

And finally ready to be fitted into the body.

For me the Rayon just gives it a cleaner taste and lets you differentiate the more subtle flavours in some mixes, though others will be very happy with their preferred brand and type of cotton.
