As many of you know, I carry my e-cig on a lanyard. I find this easier when both working in and out of the house and when I am driving. My e-cig is always there, ready for use and if I am bent over a job, it is handy just to stick it down my shirt to keep it from dangling down.
However, up until recently the only lanyard holder that was available was one made of leatherette. This was okay being stitched up the side, but the base was only glued in and after a few weeks, the base would give way and the e-cig would drop out the base.
Therefore, after a few weeks, the whole thing had to be strengthened using a pipe cleaner across the base and much Gorilla Tape wrapped around it to keep it altogether.
Recently silicone covers for some e-cigs have come on the market and I invested in a couple of these for a try out.
To strengthen the silicone to take a plastic tie that makes up the hoop to attach the holder to the lanyard, I cut a half inch deep strip of a 3 inch wide piece of Gorilla Tape and stuck one half to the outside and the other half down inside the side of the holder. I then pierced a hole about 1 inch from the top and fed the plastic tie wrap through and up to the chain of the lanyard.
You will notice in the pic below, a small split ring about 2 inches above the top of the plastic tie wrap. By taking off the mouth piece I hook that ring onto the top of the Atty and then replace the mouth piece. This ring holds the whole thing upright at all times.
These silicone holders are far superior to anything I have come across before and I have now been using it 24/7 for 2 months now with no sign of any wear or tear.

Have you thought of using silicone sealant to stick to the holder? It might look a bit better than gorilla tape. BTW my sis crocheted herself a lanyard, though you probably wouldn't want that, I still think she could make a business flogging them

What I like about the Gorilla Tape is that it is easily removed when it gets worn and the sticky stuff removed and new tape put on. However as the tape is at the rear of the holder, I only see it when I take the lanyard off to recharge it overnight.
If I was after style, I'd use a black plastic tie piece, but as this was an experiment (which has worked splendidly) this will do fur noo.
I will continue to use this one until it fails and then future units will be made up with style in mind. But I will keep the silicone sealant in mind. Thanks for that.
