I might finally pop my vf cherry Checked the travel time and its about 4hrs each way. Bit of a long drive for one day Been pricing up tenting it Checking what kit managed to make it back when we returned to the uk, what still works Found three stoves, two lanterns, a 58 pattern bag, an artic bag and a camp bed so far and an all weather pop up gazebo that would fill the boot on my little car No idea what to expect at vf You will meet just the greatest bunch of people...& you will be guaranteed a fantastic time...I'm so glad I will get to meet you Lee  |

No idea what to expect at vf Ummm - from reading thro lots of threads and comments around this place, I've sort of gained the impression that, perhaps, maybe, there might be a possibility that some who attend could, possibly, partake in an alcoholic beverage or two ... There might even be some who vape there as well.  |

Oh! I already warned her about you......JOKE!!! I'm sure I did mention the wheelbarrow home? and you and our scottish Gill lying in a gutter  she's game! She said she's fed up of her fella getting xmas nights out and concerts with the lads that she's happy enough camping rough on a random field with strangers  As I say, you aren't strangers for more than half an hour! I remember my 1st vapefest and fears that I'd feel uncomfortable with people I didn't know?.........10 minutes max and that fear is abated! Actually, she's probably a terrible influence on me! It really is a great weekend, I'm certainly not a natural camper but I haven't felt any hardship the past 3 years I've been. If anyone is deliberating then please be assured that everyone is very friendly and its a relaxed atmosphere, the facilities are excellent lots of electric hookups for caravans and mobile homes. Its a mixed bag of people, and is more akin to a popular camping site than a traditional festival so its not rowdy or anything!
There's a great big clubhouse over on the green (where the social forum and facebook communities have communal tents) it's got a lovely big bar -- not that I've got in there as I always end up partying with AAEC camping lot! There's at least 5 food wagons on site so you wont starve plus dial a pizza is used to delivering to the site also.
There's plenty of decent toilet blocks, tin huts with concrete floor with stable doors, hot and cold running water - very hygienic. Plus there's a couple of very nice tiled shower blocks so its not festival rough! I mean, take your own loo roll to be on the safe side but they keep the toilets regularly stocked up.
The showgrounds are so large that you can even choose to pitch up in a quiet corner and then wander about to party with AAEC friends and there's a lovely river winding along the perimeter with trees for extra shelter plus miles of empty cowshed that could offer shelter if the weather was unseasonably bad and Shrewsbury itself is very attractive with lots of food outlets and atmospheric pubs if you wanted to get off site. Its only a 10, 15 minute stroll into town.

Good to hear you'll be accompanied by a friend on your trip this year Pepperty. I'm quite sure it won't take her long to feel very drunk relaxed, as you'll know yourself we're pretty drunk relaxed kinda people. I think my memory might be fading, as I notice Perpetua is keen to meet Jo before she looses her power of speech. For some reason last year, my memory recalls her power of speech was perfect, although there was a slight issue with her balance due to being drunk tired  Anyway looking forward very much to meeting friends old and new. |
