not sure to be honest as I'm a little inexperienced
I've had mainly protons and now the smok baby beast and looking for similar to the baby beast
I've got one dripper but not used much
previously I had just one juice and one device but I'm starting to mix my own juice and would like a few on the go

Well on that case id recommend watching some youtube reviews and see what takes your fancy

Maybe consider a tv8 big baby because it is slightly bigger than the baby uses same stock coils but comes with a RBA and the RBA larger tank this way you can use stock coils in both tanks so no need to buy different coils and also you have the RBA to play with.

I've read that the big one needs loads of power to work properly and I've only got the alien and been warned to keep watts to 85 max

No. More wire less resistance. You put two .8ohm coils in a dual coil build to get .4 ohms.

when dual its half the res of 1 coil so a .4 dual will need 2 x .8 coils.
