bought a COOLFIRE TC100 just 3 months ago and already it stopped working, no details showing in window in fact bugger all, decided not to buy another mod with temperature control which I would never use and are not needed so I bought a Sigelei with no complicated buttons and now I've found that the on button is dodgy, otherwise it's okay, the simple E CIGS appear to be the most reliable and that's what I am sticking with. jamesrd

The oldest mods I have is a couple of DNA 30s that is 3 years old, plus a couple of DNA 40s that are over 2 years, I have have at least a dozen Evolv power mods and none have failed, though there people who have had failures. I have has a couple of Evics the first lasted 4 or 5 months, the second I hardly used and sold for it to fail a month later, but I sure there are folks with Evics that haven't failed. Nothing is bullet proof they all have odd failures, but at least if you had got an Evolv you would have a no quibble year warranty on the board. While expensive is not always better (not that DNAs are these days) going too cheap will cost you in quality & reliability. I would have far more faith in Innokin or Joyetech than I would in Sigelei though.
Simple is more reliable doesn't apply with electronic mods, it's the opposite IMO you need better engineers, components and manufacturing to do temp control well. The precision of the best boards means the max currents within the board are far more under control and more thoroughly tested.

Doubtless I'm tempting fate here . . . . . but in almost 7 years of vaping and the amount of gear that's passed through my hands in that time, I've had remarkably few reliability issues jamesrd, whether that be from higher end equipment or the cheap and cheerful. A couple of mods the 510 connection has stripped out on them in a short time and I had an Istick 30w that fired once, then went to Eleaf Heaven. There's an element of luck perhaps which also applies to the stuff we use, I'm sorry that yours hasn't been especially blessed.

I've had to fix switches, boards and 510s on quite a few of my mods. Also a few dozen for other people.
Evolv are great at swapping out boards. I sent them a board from a second hand lost vape and they replaced it. I'm told YiHi are equally good.
But having seen the inside of so many mods has made me appreciate a Hammond box, keystone sled, Fat Daddy 510 and switch, and a MOSFET. If you need adjustability then a Big Al PWM. If you need regulation then an OKR/OKL/Raptor. Crude, maybe, but bullet proof and serviceable...

As mentioned evolv boards are very good. Got 5 myself and never had an issue with them. Saying that I used to have a few evic minis and they were pretty good too.
