Welcome to the forum @anton. I'm English but have lived in France for 10 years and smoked for 4 decades before switching to vaping just over 3 years ago. I never thought I'd stop smoking and don't believe anything other than vaping would have worked for me

Bonjour maytwin I'm glad to meet all of you here I do own an e-cig. I bought it a few years ago, while I was still a tobacco smoker. I haven't get used to it yet. Smoking it usually made me feel like smoking a regular cig right afterwards. To me, vaping is still smoking (-> smoke). I would not vape if there were no apparent smoke to exhale (I have my own theory regarding how important it is the exhaled smoke must be seen by the smoker). So my questions are: how often do you vape? Is vaping an addiction for you? How much nicotine in the e-fluid (if any)? Merci

Hello again maytwin and all, As I explained, I quit tobacco smoking 3 months 1/2 ago. However, I still have the little need of smoking one or two tobaccoless cigs. My goal is to use my e-cig instead, with no nicotin - and with no addiction to vaping. Any advice is welcome Thank you.

So my questions are: how often do you vape? Is vaping an addiction for you? How much nicotine in the e-fluid (if any)? Merci For me, I had to make the decision to stop smoking cigarettes entirely. My first e-cig (a Joyetech 510) didn't work for me and although I used it occasionally, I carried on smoking for another 2 years. Once I had upgraded to vv/vw and refillable tanks I realised that could work and after about 6 weeks of dual use, I stopped buying cigarettes and the rest is history ! I did have cravings for a couple of months, particularly for the first and last cigarette of the day, but if they had been available I don't think I wouldn't have stopped at 2 a day ! Although I get the satisfaction of inhaling/exhaling etc, I don't see vaping as smoking, it being something I enjoy rather than an addiction. I have lowered my nicotine from 18mg to 12mg and am quite happy to stay there.

Thank you, maytwin So there's nicotine in your case. I plan to buy nicotineless liquid for my vap' and to vape a few times as a substitute for the few nicotineless cigs I smoke each week. To me, if there's smoke (or alike), there's smoking. To France too (since vaping is not allowed everywhere in France). Bonne journée

Hi @anton and welcome to the forum.
I guess I was lucky and by the time I found vaping, I was already smoking menthol cigarettes. So although my first vaping kit came with a few flavours, I did not like the tobacco flavour and would never have taken to vaping if that flavour was all that was available. However the Cherry and, especially the Menthol, flavours were nice and for a month I continued to Vape and Smoke cigarettes.
Then I realised that the 12mg of nicotine in the e-cigs just was not enough for me but by refilling the cartos with 24mg, I didn't need the cigarettes anymore and so after a month of dual fuel, I went 100% vaping.
Within a few months of vaping only, I found other flavours that I liked, including a nice smooth tobacco flavour and the rest is history.
I don't see there ever being a time when I go Nicotine Free. I didn't start Vaping to do that and I don't see any reason why I would want to. Vaping gives me all the pleasure that smoking once gave me, but with none of the dangers that smoking has.

Hello lobeydosser I'm having a family member trying to get me flavorless & nicotineless e-liquid in town. Unfortunately, no such liquid in those shops there. I'll look up other ones. A thick tasteless nicotineless vapor matters to me. My vaping kit provides a good thick one. That was the main criterion when I bought it. Sure, vaping a priori prevents from inhaling any harmful substances (except nicotine). I wish you a great day

Mine is a non-addictive vaping with flavorless & nicotineless e-fluid ^^ This will be better than my occasional tobacco-free cigs ^^ I'm in the process of finding such an e-liquid in real shops around here then maybe online. I'll eventually get it anyway ^^

Hi @anton I have been lead to believe that Nicotine is not harmful. Indeed there are experiments going on at the moment into using Nicotine as a strong painkiller and eventually use it to replace Morphine.
Morphine has too many bad side effects including drowsiness, which a Nicotine substitute would not have.
We live in a world where there are too many old wives tales regarding Smoking and any associated activities and, for many, Vaping comes under the umbrella of an associated activity. While Vaping may mimic Smoking, there is nothing in an e-cig that, used properly, will cause you any harm what-so-ever. All of an e-cigs ingredients can be found in foods and some medicines and if the authorities had any concerns about any of these ingredients, these would have been banned long ago.

Hi Well, I refer to the deadly skull pictogram displayed on each one of my "old" (2016) flasks of e-liquid with nicotine (France). Picture (trademark removed): s19.postimg.cc/q5jj97vmr/20170321_161425.jpgAs far as I know, France encourages the legal selling of vaping kits & liquids but asks liquid suppliers to add that pictogram on the flasks with nicotine inside.

But it seems clear to me that the inhaled amount of nicotine is not deadly (except if unusual use or/and sensitivity). My Graal is one flask of the liquid I've mentioned earlier ^^ My vaping kit is ready. I've replaced the old "tank part" with a new one

Hi @anton As far as I remember, I have never seen any Skull Pictograms on a Tomato or a cup of Coffee, both of which contain some Nicotine as do other widely available foods.
However, we are splitting hairs here. If you think that Nicotine is dangerous to you and you want to cut it out completely, then go for it.
Me? I hold a different opinion and, for me, the benefits of Vaping, Nicotine and all, have brought me a way of life that is beyond my wildest dreams and I intend to hold onto that way of life for as long as possible.
Good luck with your quest.
