Occasional vaping appears to be the most appropriate solution for me after quitting tobacco smoking 3 months 1/2 ago. I still need, at times, to inhale a thick vapor to sort of compensate the burning I feel, at times, in my lungs. I must avoid occasional tobacco-free cigarettes. I have a vaping kit, I know what e-liquid I need and I'm in the process of getting a flask of it

@anton you want flavourless, nicotine free e-liquid that gives good clouds then just vape Pure VG. And don't worry about what Governments insist on putting on liquids, due to the EU TPD, as Mods and empty Tanks now have to state that they contain nicotine when they obviously don't. A crazy situation.

I wish you a great day

If you want to try flavourless vaping, with no nicotine @anton, VG stands for vegetable glycerine. It may be available in an pharmacy near you and sold as pharmaceutical grade glycerin or glycerol. It is quite viscous on it's own, so some people here dilute it with 10-15% distilled /purified water (which makes aqueous VG, or "AVG").... again, maybe available from your pharmacy.

I wasn't sure about 'VG' at first then I assumed it was about a kind of vaping kit (while I already have one). *blushes* I wish you a great day

Hello again Postmodern Smoking and sydsut, I'm getting additional informations from a French source: base 70%PG/30%VG. I can buy about 100 ml of it in a flask. (The flask I used last year contains <60% PG, 40% VG, flavors, water, nicotin.) According to what I'm told so far, PG provides fluidity (adapted to my vaping kit) and the "hit-the-throat" vaping effect I look for. Your opinion on that (%PG) would be appreciated, thank you

Yes indeed, PG produces a bit of "throat hit" and some vapour, VG produces more vapour, but without the throat hit. Most e-liquids use a combination of these two carriers, although you can vape them on their own. PG is less viscous too than pure VG by itself, but that isn't a limiting factor if the VG is diluted.
70%PG/30%VG should give you a reasonable throat hit. Why not get yourself some pharmaceutical grade VG and PG and see what you proportion you like yourself? (For small quantities it is probably easier getting PG from a vape shop that caters for DIY, or online. PG= mono-propylene glycol)

Thank you for your precious pieces of advice, Postmodern Smoking, At 6 pm (France time), I called my nearest e-cig shop. On the phone, we agreed with 70/30, a flask of about 100 ml, price 4.60 euros (= £4, which is less expensive than online ordering here, given the expensive shipping costs). Then I checked the internet again and read about 80/20 liquid. Then I wondered whether I had to change into 80/20 or something. I called again, in vain, then I decided to directly go to that shop. The saleswoman told me there were higher risks of leakage with 80/20 in my device. So I finally stuck to 70/30 and ordered that flask. I'll get it in the second part of next week. There's no hurry ^^

If you find 70PG/30VG doesn't give enough throat hit @anton, then add a little splash of cheap vodka into some of the mix and try. (Assuming that you are not teetotal)

If needed, I'd choose a good vodka or gin for that purpose. I sincerely think I'm not addicted to (ethylic) alcohol. I occasionnaly drink alcoholic beverages. I appreciate a glass of good red wine, cognac, vodka (zubrovska, ...), gin, ... once in a while. I haven't gotten drunk for many years.

If more throat hitting needed: I buy some good vodka, I taste it to ensure there are no impurities in it and if a drop survives, I might put it in my e-liquid ^^

Hello Members There's one condition I've been experiencing for a long time, even though I often "forget" it: I've progressively become quasi-anosmic. Anosmia = the loss of the sense of smell. I am not able to smell anything while eating/drinking but I can smell a little bit some things (perfumes, stinking things, ...) but they must really be intense so that I smell something. Hence 'quasi-anosmic'. Most of you (members) are used to eating/drinking things that smell good. Flavors eclipse the bad taste of many things you eat/drink. They don't eclipse anything to me: my sense of taste is apparently intact. I used to love eating chocolate-coated peanuts: that great peanut flavor, that of the chocolate, yummy. Now, I only get a disgusting taste of sweetened fat with unpleasant pieces of "plastic" to chew (peanuts). Buying food/drinks is challenging to me ^^ Without mentioning eating/drinking obviously (I invite you to fill your nostrils with cotton then eat/drink). That progressive condition had an impact of my tobacco consumption. In the beginning, I smoked cigs with a high rate of tar ("strong cigs"). Then, as my sense of smell was decreasing, I noticed more and more the unpleasant taste of tar in my mouth (a taste that had always been there but eclipsed). Then the flavors vanished: only tar and chemicals remained perceived in my mouth. Then I felt pushed to choose cigs with the lowest content of tar. I would cut the precut filter in two so that I get a throat hitting smoke. But I couldn't smell any flavor any longer. I smoked because I was addicted. I'm sure that most of the smokers have that taste of tar in their mouth but it is eclipsed by the highly studied flavors there are in cigs. That mostly explains why I need an e-liquid with no flavor. Any similar experience?

Hi Anton.
I'm completely unaware of your condition, but it so happens I heard of another who suffers with the same condition. Since they are in another vaping forum in another country, I have PM'd you a note with a link to a relevant thread posted by that person. If you wanted to contact them, I know that person is very approachable and reasonable.
