Just a word from a weak willed ex smoker to anyone passing

Thought I would post here as it is the most likely place that smokers looking for encouragement might be hanging around. I just noticed that I have gone 1000 days without a cigarette. I smoked heavily for over 40 years and never even thought I could give up. But with the alternative of vaping I did and never have a moments wish to light a ciggy again.

I'm coming up to my 7 years of being an ex-smoker . . . . . having been the epitome of a ' Fag Ash Lil ' ( 36years smoking/40-50 a day come the end ) I couldn't go 7 hours without sparking up, let alone 7 years!

Can't say that I've ever been seriously tempted in this time to have a cigarette either, thanks to our far more enjoyable alternative.

I still cant believe people had the time to smoke more than the maximum of 20 a day that i smoked!

A friend on mine had a nan that smoked 80 superking black a day. Lived till 92 years old. Work that one out!

Well done Richard46, it's really good to see how much we have all done. I never put a ticker tape on mine and wish I had, it's written down on a distant calendar somewhere though.

I can't honestly say I haven't wanted to light up in all this time though as I have on several occasions and even now the notion fleetingly passes but oddly it is never in stressful times and it's amazing how easily the feeling passes when previous attempts had me just giving in whereas now I just forget I even thought about it.

I still have 5 roll ups in a tin in the outhouse, they must be stale as muck now for the yrs they have sat out there but I still look at them every now and again and remember how disgusting they were to smoke and how everything stank and I retched with coughing morning noon and night.......

Well done Richard. I've been vaping a little over a week now, and never thought I'd see the day when I didn't crave a cigarette.
I wish I had turned to vaping earlier.

I echo the others positive comments. I'd certainly still be smoking heavily if not for vaping. It's a little over 1300 days for me and that's a lot of cigarettes I've not smoked.

I'm liking that many Vapers, like Richard46, don't notice how long ago they stopped Smoking. It's a fine milestone, but even finer to not notice 'cos I think that means Smoking is in the past, gone, stopped.
