Any suggestions?. We started our own business 2 years ago...now we need some "us" time. *insert tired smilie here*. No problem you will say..."google is our friend"...yeah I thought so too...but despite countless hours trawling t'internet and changing search terms all I can find are the "commercial" holiday companies...you know the ones I mean...*Country Cottages*...*Sykes Cottages*...*Butlins*...Hoseasons* et al...none of which are what we want. You see we are an odd pair by most peoples standards...we don't have TV (personal choice)...we enjoy reading/crosswords/music/walking/bird watching and other nice leisurely undemanding pursits...*sounds like an ad in the personals...lol* We've trawled all the Yurt/Tipi/Pods/Glamping holidays...but quite frankly they are taking the *proverbial* with their prices. All we want is self catering for 2...preferably during May...for 1 or 2 weeks...somewhere reasonably secluded/remote with no TV/Phone/Mobile Signal/Internet...no modern trappings needed...so we can totally relax...cottage/caravan...whatever. There must be somewhere that ticks the boxes...but I can't find it. So am wondering if any of the members here might have some ideas or know of somewhere that fit's the bill...we don't have any particular destination in mind...anywhere that is off the beaten track...the only area that is off our list is East & North East Scotland...purely because I left there 4 years ago and have no desire to go back on holiday. All suggestions appreciated. Flynt

FOUND IT! No Idea where it is though................................. Seriously though have you tried these: www.holidaylettings.co.uk/ i've used this site loads of times to find accomodation in Spain but they do the UK too. They have a pretty good search, you can drill down by area and type of accomodation required.

Come to Cornwall Flynt Storm & Mrs Storm loved the cottage on a farm they stayed at recently & by what they told me about it, it would fit your bill - though I don't know about cost wise.

Honestly sounds like my idea of hell, I can't even sleep at night without noise, seriously. I literally grew up in the city centre, with all the background noise, like traffic, drinkers, sirens etc. Now I live somewhere a little quieter at night, I can't get to sleep without the radio, or TV on in the background. So I won't be off much help, but my suggestion is this, have you tried picking some beautiful and secluded places to stay, then try searching cottages specific to that area, such as "lake district cottages" "peak district cottages" "Yorkshire dales cottages" or "Cornwall cottages." I get some sites come up with those terms that might fit the bill, as in they look like my idea of hell, Sorry I can't be of any help, but good luck with your search

New Forest, it's on my doorstep and lovely, it also has the UK's worst internet connection and naff all mobile signal. Saying all of this my Sister is taking my two girls here in May: www.homemadeholidays.co.ukShe's very much like you two, likes her quiet and no TV etc, spends her time going on Yoga holidays in remote locations of the world so I think this may appeal to you, I have no clue how much it is though. (ah just scrolled down, not that much really!)

The beauty of this place is they allow pets , even if you don't have your own pets you very rarely see other peoples , not only that in and around the cottages pets must be kept on a lead , anyway heres the link www.dogs-holiday.co.uk/As for the cost it steadily increases as we approach "summer"

You sound perfect candidates for geocaching, pick a nice area and find a nice B&B, you'll be out all day geocaching anyway.

The furthest I've ever been away from it is the Isle of Raasay and it was wonderfull for the night probably the best nights sleep I've ever had no need for a car, shop open s couple of hours a day few people mostly sheep and birds amazing sunset over skye. I stayed in the Youth Hostel which was again wonderfull, but I've done a quick search on my phone and found this www.scottishholidayhouse.co.uk/Availability-and-prices.html I think its a fair price for size of place if a bit steep for two
