Gearbest - Why no longer shipping to UK?

Hi,

I just posted what I thought was a good deal for an iStick Pico I found on Gearbest but when we tried to order some it said they wouldn't ship the the UK.  I talked to someone on live chat and they just said they couldn't currently ship to the UK due to recent regulations.

I can't see why they can't ship it, it doesn't contain a battery. The only thing I can think of is could it be because of the stupid TPD? but then I was under the impression the TPD didn't restrict imports

No the TPD does not cover mods anyway only eliquid and tanks.
It's more likely to be Eleaf who won't allow them to ship to the UK because the price is lower than the UK authorised vendors sell for.
Gearbest is an authorised vendor for them and i guess they don't want to lose that relationship.

I think its more to do with it being a eleaf product as i believe they are not allowed to sell them to the uk due to a
tie up between eleaf and a uk distributor

its a legal matter where only certain suppliers can sell or import isticks in the UK
its been like this for over a year.

Oh I wasn't aware of all these distributor/supplier issues.

Well that really sucks. I was like "Ship it! Ship it! Ship it!" when the order wouldn't go through lol. Oh well.

Depends on what day of the week it is whether they ship eleaf products to the UK.

lol I just ordered that exact one because I trust fasttech.

whereas my friend sat next to me on her notebook just bought one from aliexpress for £16.26

I have used Aliexpress before amygx and found the products very hit and miss as they come from various suppliers and quality is variable  - a number of things I have had from there have been inferior copies. Fingers crossed for your friend.

With AliExpress you have excellent buyer protection - Ali hold the funds until you confirm receipt of the goods and all is good, then release dosh to the supplier. Everything I've ever bought through Ali has been fine

Well my friends Pico that she ordered from aliexpress I told you about arrived yesterday, 12 days after ordering it. That is pretty fast. I'm still waiting for mine that I ordered from fasttech on the same day lol

Lovely little device it is though. Can't wait to get mine though I think I'll order from aliexpress next time
