I've had four of these blighters now, all authentic, all bought at different times from different vendors, and they've all followed the same path to doom --
they work fine for a few days then they stop turning on normally, and you have to fiddle with the battery cap until the display lights up' this works for another few days then no amount of cap-twiddling is effective, but plugging in the charger causes the display to flash and some cap-twiddling works once more' this works for yet another few days then nothing works,, the thing is dead.
My fourth pico is at the penultimate stage at the moment and i'm girding my loins for the approaching end.
It's a pity because I like the size, but bloody hell, surely I can'y be the only one having this problem...

I have noticed once or twice on mine but tightening the battery cap has resolved this. Are your 18650s from a reputable vendor?

Are you careful/gentle when putting batteries in? If slamming them in too hard might put an indent in the battery head causing overall length to be shorter...making contact harder?
Prob barking up the wrong tree here..just a thought.

I've tried many different batteries and they all work fine in other mods. And no, I'm not a battery-slammer.
Typing 'pico not working' into Youtube results in a plethora of videos of people's picos not working, alas with no solution. Presumably these are videos made to send to vendors as proof of knackerdom. But at leat I'm not alone.

No, I've just frowned at them a lot and muttered darkly. I suppose I should send a stiff letter to the manufacturer, but I keep hoping someone will come up with a fix so obvious that I slap myself on the forehead and exclaim 'of course!'

You are my partner in problematic picos, Gill. You took the sensible route, whereas I insisted on being shafted by a mod four times.
I am an imbecile.

TBH ok i have had very good service from mine but if any of mine had died as quick as yours have done i would be kicking off at them and asking for a new replacement or a refund. Its got to be worth sending a email to them.

I had one as well that one day just dropped stone dead and no amount of fiddling and battery changing made any difference, so it went into landfill.

OliverB - Most strange.....I had the same problem last week.... I took the battery out and put it back in a few times and it worked for a bit and stopped but now, touch wood, seems to be OK again...it seemed to temporarily stop "reading" the battery.... I absolutely love the Pico - I've had my one well over a year now (30 quid mod...)....and have recently ordered a couple more....

Odd co-incidence, had 2 Picos since they first came out and today, this happened for the first time - I loosened the battery cover and tightened again and it came back on, thought no more of it until I read this - thanks for the post OliverB
