Hi all - and especially our Admin Ladies - Chrissie & Perpetua (*waves*) Over the last couple of days I've been unable to see pics attached to posts. A bit of investigation suggests it seems related to images hosted with Postimg.org. Symptoms: * Occurring for about 2 days now. Once it started it has not altered. * Happens on two different Windows PCs (Win7 with fully patched Firefox, cache cleared daily). * Happens on two different Samsung Android tablets using both the default browser and also using Firefox addon. * It only seems to happen when the pic is hosted with Postimage.org - like " postimg.org/image/uyjwhgjd1/" * I can see the pics when it is hosted with someone else - like photobucket or xomf.org like: " i1049.photobucket.com/albums/s397/DAPALA/nursing%20home1_zps3hd4e9h1.jpg" or " i.xomf.com/nqgwv.jpg" Is this symptom of something broken here that I need to attend to ... or is it with Proboards, or maybe with Postimage? Is this affecting anyone else ? Cheers Dave

DaveJ - I've just had a click on the links in your post and on laptop, win 10 with ie11 all three links show a picture, however on my phone, android using standard built in browser, one of them doesn't work - not the postimg one though, for me its the photobucket one which shows a background picture of a cat with the message photo not found click for photos, which when clicked does nothing. Sorry it doesn't really help but just out of interest I will try the same when I get to work later on my work PC, Win7 and chrome .

DaveJ - At work now and all three links showing the pictures on Win 7 using both chrome and IE11 Hopefully someone else can try them using Firefox to hopefully narrow the problem down for you.

Windows7 using Firefox no issues viewing Postimage for me DaveJ . . . . which doesn't help you much, sorry.

Thanks all for you advice.
That's frustrating. I was sorta hoping it wasn't here....
Logically it cannot be anything within single PCs... since 2 separate PCs and 2 droid tablets (all hanging off my main ADSL router) are all affected.
I cannot even get the main Postimg site to render properly. I'd guess that is associated - looks like I got some investigation to do.
*sigh*

The extent of my technical knowledge can be fitted on the head of a pin Dave, so this will probably be ridiculous . . . . but could it be anything to do with the server you use down under? Does laurie9300 have similar issues?

The extent of my technical knowledge can be fitted on the head of a pin Dave, hehe - I gotcha! I feel likewise about so many things - like, what I know about spray painting could be written on a postage stamp with a crayon. .... so this will probably be ridiculous . . . . but could it be anything to do with the server you use down under? Actually that's NOT so ridiculous. I have not started to look at it yet, but something along those lines is exactly what I was leaning toward. That, or DNS lookups or something - it certainly doesn't seem like a machine specific issue to me, not when several different sorts of 'puter all start with the same problem at the same time. Donno yet - and I'm not sure what ISP he uses either .... but will start playing shortly. Funny thing is - on AAEC threads without embedded pics from Postimg, the threads "snap open". But if the thread contains any posts with such pics then it takes ages - and the "timer" icon up in the tab continues it's "waiting for response" for a LONG time. It really seems like a internet lookup and time out thing to me. Time to start playing......

Well, coupla more bits of info:
It isn't my DNS lookup. Swapped details in my router to try Google's open DNS numbers - no change.
It also affects posts containing pics hosted with Postimg.org at that other vaping forum also hosted on Proboards.
ETA - doesn't affect Laurie ... but he is also with a different ISP. I have no idea if that is relevant though.

DaveJ just an off the wall thought - could your ISP be blocking Postimg.org? Worth maybe trying a VPN or proxy (free one) to test it?

DaveJ could you try to turn off the wifi on your droids so its forced to connect via mobile and see what happens? Disclaimer: Money invested in mobile network might negatively affect your shiny budget.

What a good idea bioxx . And an easier first test than trying to learn about and hunt out a free VPN or proxy server. Except my droid tablets do not have sim cards for "mobile access". We do however have a seperate prepaid "wireless hot spot" that we use when away from home that gives those tablets internet access (like on holidays). With the added bonus of it being with another different ISP. So swinging the tablets over to that other wireless connection ought be a great test. BUT - I log in this morning whilst having breaky and find everything is now working right. I can see all ya pics. What the...? So, unless messing with my Router's DNS yesterday took overnight to take affect, there must have been something with my ISP. Donno *shrug* What can I say? Least it's a goer now. Nope, I am not going to be trying to swing my router's DNS settings back - it's working now so I ain't touching it! ** With thanks for the constructive suggestions you guys offered. .... Disclaimer: Money invested in mobile network might negatively affect your shiny budget. hehe - yep!

Test: Looks like Postimage have changed their screens/automatic link Dave . After the error 404, click proceed, then scroll down and copy direct link, return to the forum and click the forum insert image icon ('picture frame') and paste (CTRL V) the copied URL. .... not very straightforward!
