Just got a 3.5ml DCT and am wondering (paranoid) about it not wicking properly.
Primed it with 20 drops as per instructions, filled it and after using it for a while, had a look inside to find the filling was dry. Just to check, I dropped some juice in to see how much it would take and it took another 20 drops! The tank level had dropped a little though, so it's doing something.
I'm using VG and am thinking the hole isn't big enough to allow it through. Has anyone had this problem and if so, how big should I make the hole? Maybe I should make another hole on the opposite side too?

You do need bigger holes, or/and more holes for a thicker VG liquid. If you dont see any air bubbles coming out of the holes then I'd try another hole or a bigger hole.
Another thing to try is to fill the tank, leave the cart so you know it can take more juice and cover the connection at the bottom the carto and suck really hard, it should suck the liquid into the carto from the tank. If it still doesn't seem to be filling then more holes are needed.

Jem's advice is spot on Wongs . . . you may find you need as many as 4 holes for VG or a slit even, rather than holes.
The cooler weather doesn't help VG wicking either, when ( if! ) it's ever warmer . . . you'll probably find it wicks better.

Thank you both for your replies and advice. After using it today, I became quite frustrated and attacked it with the dremmel between jobs! Of course, I didn't get a chance to look at the forum first! Anyway... The result was good and fits exactly with your replies. I tried to get a photo, but as you can see, my phone camera couldn't focus very well, but you will get the idea from the picture. So far, it seems to be fine. If there is still problems, I'll make another slot on the other side. Just letting it sit for a few hours now to see if it floods and tonight I'm going out, so it'll get a good testing. I suppose it's a bit "hit and miss" and a few carto's later, I'll know more.

If you did a slot like that on the other side too then it should work with no problems. If you taste any burning then give it a couple of hard drags without pushing the button to suck some fluid in.

Thanks Jemima. Tonight I took it for a "test drive". I had to play a pool match (8 ball) that lasted for about 5 hours, with a lot of "smoke breaks" in between. I think it could be beginners luck, but it performed very well indeed. I did notice that if I sucked hard without pressing the button, I got air bubbles coming from the slot. In fact, I over did it a few times and flooded it quite easily. As you say... Maybe a slot on the other side to???? Having said all that, I think I can live with it as is, or maybe increase the existing slot very slightly to get it perfect. As an electrical/mechanical engineer and understanding how this all works, something in the back of my mind (that's a very deep place by the way) is telling me to put a hole/slot at the top. I know this is against advice, but it just feels like the top of the filling is drying out too fast. If I do this, I will have to mark the outer case and make sure the slot is always at the bottom when I vape, but I think it may be worth a go. I'll not try that until I have a few spares though. I've got to like this new upgrade!

If you punched a hole in the top, you would need to keep the tank topped up all the time, it kind of defeats the object IMHO

Thanks for your reply Anne. I know it's against all advice and I understand why, but I do notice that when I'm vaping, I'm holding it at about 45 degrees at worst case, so even when it's quarter full the lower part of the top section is still immersed in liquid. It may be a pain to keep checking that the slot is at the bottom, but it may also extend the life and increase the efficiency of the carto? Who knows? As I said earlier... I'll not risk doing that until I have a few spares to play with. I'm sure some of you guys have tried this before, but it'll be interesting to find out what happens for myself and of course, I'll post the results for anyone who may be interested.

OK... After extensive testing and making the slot a tiny bit longer, all is good in the vaping world. I found that increasing the amount of suction when vaping, it is drawing the liquid to the top of the carto. In fact, if I draw a little too hard, it can flood. So this slot seems to be the answer and is more than good enough for me. Now, I'm in the process of making a rig for cutting the slots the same size every time. Should be able to cut them in about 30 seconds when I'm finished.

Yes, VG is too thick to go through the coil, I tried a long time today thought I may get a bad one, but I switch to PG, it works well. And the VG,PG mix is also good for dual coil.

Just a quick update: I added another slot to the opposite side and also made them a little wider. This improved the performance even more. I've been using the modified DCT for just about 3 weeks now with no bad things to report at all. Just for a change, I tried some PG liquid through it for about 5 days and the result was super too! This makes me wonder why they make the hole so small in the first place. I assumed that with my two large slots, the thing would flood like crazy with a thin PG liquid. I think the filler material will only absorb what it needs, regardless of the hole size. Another point is that this thing is still alive after 3 weeks of hard work! I've actually used this thing til the whole tank is hot to touch quite a few times and smoked it all day, every day. VERY pleased indeed with all aspects of this tank and the conversion.

Sounds like your onto a winner there Wongs, I have not had any issues with mine and I have not had to make the hole bigger at all. Though saying that, one of my carts has become hard to draw on so I might just clean it up and make a slot in it and see how it goes.
