It took me about a year of still having the odd cig. What I meant in my first post was going back to cigs full time would be such a shame now you have made the steps forward to vaping. Well done for resisting anyway, keep being strong 👍😉

I enjoy vaping so much now that I haven't looked back. I do have the odd fleeting thought but never for long. The big test for me is going to be when I go out for a few with mates ( which I never get time for now!) so I'm yet to see if the temptation will get the better of me or if I can get them over to vaping instead !

Although I hung onto a last pack for 2-3 years I think after that, just in case! LOL ... I still have 10 x 50g packs of Golden Virginia in my bedroom wardrobe. Wow! It was a distinctly weird feeling the first time I went ' commando ' must admit . . . . not having a couple of packs of ciggies/lighters in my handbag, or having at least 100 cigs in reserve at home. Now I don't even think about it, the space smoking supplies occupied ( plus some! ) has certainly been filled!

Like some of you here, I held onto my "security blanket" stash of smokes long after I'd made the switch. I think it was nearly three years before I let go of the last full unopened carton and cleared all the smoking gear from that top kitchen cupboard. (*) I do remember bartering at least one carton with an electrician at about my two year mark .... * In return, the vaping gear seems to have taken over huge quantities of the remainder of the house. But that cupboard remains clear!

..... Oh, & I beat the temptation Today. Good for you! In my early days, I worked just in the present. "If I can just make it to lunch time" or "I'll just wait until cuppa" or "I'll hold off till the news" and so on - all the while vaping up a storm. When I got to that particular time, I stopped to properly consider if I really needed a smoke that badly ... and if not, I'd make another short milestone for myself. In those first few days I never thought as far ahead as making a full day without the smokes. After a while, I realised making a day wasn't that hard, so long as I didn't aim for anything longer. But pretty soon I'd made a week, then a month, then three. Little steps moblee, little steps. This initial effort is so, so worthwhile in the longer term.

Ah, yeah... that certainly is "one of those times" ! My advice? Forget what they are all doing and just worry about making it thro yourself. At least for the first time or two. Vape up a storm and keep at it. I found that the smell of cigarette smoke is a powerful thing in those early days. My nose could auto locate a "smoker's corner" at 500 metres yet my sense of smell is very poor at the best of times. Even now, for example, when on on the bike in traffic, I occasionally get that whiff from a car and my body automatically goes into the "where's my packet & lighter" routine.

My first real test was New Year's Eve, about 4 months after I had given up analogues. I was mixing with quite a lot of smokers and was worried that I would succumb. As it turned out, the stench of stale tobacco really turned me off the whole idea, and I stayed firm on my eGo battery and CE3 clearomiser (ah, those were the days!) and vaped right through with no worries whatsoever!
On a side note, I met a work colleague yesterday who recounted me the following tale:
He went on holiday with his young family to Menorca, and decided to not bother with taking his vaping gear, thus reducing the hassle at the airports. After a day over there he had to look around to get something temporary to quell his cravings, but nothing, nada, not a sniff of any vape gear. Reluctantly he bought some B & H fags, and nearly fell over after the first one, such was the massive intake of nicotine (he vapes 1mg juice DLI like me). He persevered (!) and smoked his way through 60 fags over the week, but came home and couldn't wait until he could get his hands on his vape gear, and is now firmly back on the vaping again.

Hang on in there!!! There are many (like me) who were hardened smokers and didn't think it would ever be possible to get off the stinkies. If I can do it ... then anyone can ... believe me!!! As they say, one day at a time . You CAN and you WILL do it!!!
