If you do get the ventilation right you shouldn't need to use a dehumidifier which will cost you in electricity charges. To an extent I agree Tony . . . . but much does also depend on the type of property, my old shop was a Grade II listed building and naturally well ventilated - plagued by howling gales almost running through the building! Yet I still had massive problems with damp and condensation, which a dehumidifier resolved. Yep, older properties were not designed for the amount of washing and bathing/showering modern families do. Ventilation at appropriate times will help but might not solve the problem alone. Hence why i had to buy a dehumidifer
