Anyone use one? I live in a cooooold house and suffer from condensation on the windows in this weather (double glazing didn't help at all) I've googled them and it looks like the electric dessicant type might be ideal as opposed to the compressor ones due to the temperature range they work in. And yeah before any cheeky buggers pipe up I do have my heating on hah

Yeah we use one. They are brilliant. Well mine is lol.
Used to get a little bit of mould on one wall in lounge... realised it was due to the amount of washing we do, shower is down stairs, plus add the cooking. Since we got it, it never came back. It has actually made the downstairs feel warmer too as it takes the moisture out the air. We just leave it on a quarter setting on auto, so it kicks in and out as it needs to.
Becareful not to over do it though...as you dont want the air too dry. Your get dry skin and itching problems lol

Spot on thebishman I'm looking at the ecoair range and your symptoms are exactly what I'm having. Clothes on radiators and I can wipe my hands down the wall and door and they're really damp and there's some mould growth if I don't keep on top of it so should be ideal. Oh well looks like I'm treating myself to an early Xmas pressie:)

Open bathroom window and kitchen windows fully when cooking etc etc. Also experiment with where you put the dehumidifier as that also makes a big difference. We got the delonghi - tasciugo ariadry slim. Its nice and quiet.

Had and used one in the past at the shop I had as it was damp old building even without washing drying. This was back in the day when they were considerably more expensive than they are now . . . . very effective it was as well! Now like so much ' technology ' they're more affordable, so if you do have a damp/condensation problem it's worth investing in one I reckon dalealan . *I was shocked at quite how much moisture it did extract from the atmosphere - made it a much more pleasant space to be in.

I have a Trotec. It surprises me how much water it extracts. Dehumidifiers struggle if the room they're in is cold. When I bought mine I was recmmended to avoid fancy controls - unnescessay and an extra thing to go wrong.

cheers peeps. Some great advice and I'm definitely nabbing one. Just dont bother with a small one mate Story of my life haha nah been looking at either the ecoair dc18 (compressor type) or the ecoair dd128 dessicant model. Both have their plus and minus points but the extraction rates are good enough. Been waiting on hotukdeals patiently for one to come up in the sales but I might have to bite the bullet.

Condensation often results from poor ventilation. It might sound counter intuitive when it's cold and all you want to be is warm but you must ventilate the rooms properly, it should reduce the condensation considerably if you do. Drying clothing in radiators is not a great idea it just adds more moisture to the atmosphere of the room. If you do get the ventilation right you shouldn't need to use a dehumidifier which will cost you in electricity charges.
