I luv reading 'bout people's new kit & the weird & wonderful flavours that are being mixed/vaped but am always wondering....is it down to a fundamental dis-satisfaction? ie. all the chopping & changing? After all, when We smoked, We mainly stuck to 1 brand of fags (diff. for pipe smokers I know...), so why the need for change of kit/flavours? Long-Timers here prob. know that I only vape NETs & ain't interested in anything else but also, I can't see the point in changing from My EDV Mod/RDA (Squeeze/L16), as it does Me fine & I'm satisfied. Sorry to go all Zen on Ya but is the constant seeking of a 'better vape' just another facet of Our materialist/consumerist society, like buying sofas or wot? Who else here has 'stuck' wiv Their kit/flavour? Who'd like to explain the fascination wiv the constant acquisition of new kit? Discuss!

Good topic!!
Well it's a world of flavour isn't it. So many things to try etc.
I know what you're saying tho. I've been bitten by shinninyitess quite a bit but really have stuck with my pico and goblin mini. Don't get me wrong I still buy rta's like they are pokemon but the goblin is the one really. Others have come close but not close enough.

The one thing I like more than gadgets/tech is new gadgets/tech I try not to buy things at full price and take advantage of our Chinese friends wherever possible, mind. As for liquids, Red Astaire was as close as I came to finding the one, but I don't really vape MTL any more and don't like it with high VG. I'd be happy to stick to a couple of flavours were the right ones to come along. Until then I'm enjoying the search.

As i remember it fags didn't come in a whole bunch of flavours, sure there's a slight difference between a B&H and L&B but really it's all kind of a variation on a theme so i can kind of understand people getting hooked into trying an almost endless variety of flavours and flavour combinations. That said for the last couple of years i've pretty much stuck to just vaping on plain old strawberry knocked up at home, i do occasionally knock up something else if i'm in the mood for a bit of variety but not that often. Hardware i am a sucker for though, i love me a new RTA/RDA or mod. Postie should be bringing me this pretty little sucker i commissioned in the next day or two. And every new mod deserves a new atty right? So ordered the Themis RTA too.

Don't think i've bought much of anything other than flavour since TPD last year.

flavours : after my first change from tobacco to banana ( about 2 - 3 month into vaping )- and then all sorts I was walking behind a smoker and my first thought was :'how boring- only one flavour' - in that moment I knew, that it had made click in my brain and smoking was history now I enjoy many flavours and are always happy to try something new
kit - I evolved from protank to kanger sub ohm - and still love them - so not too adventurous here - and am happy with any mod that goes up to 40 watt

Gear - well I've pretty much settled on one RTA and have quite a few readily available. Whilst I occasionally try others I keep coming back to that one standard RTA that "just works" for me.
Mods? Well I do have a variety - but my wants/needs from a mod are pretty simple and low end nowdays - put a reliable 16 to 20 watts at the 510 with good run time between charging. So long as it satisfies those coupla requirements, they'll do me.
But flavours. *sigh* Yeah, I know I smoked the one brand/flavour for all those years. I know it'd be sensible and logical to find and settle on one e-juice flavour. Ya think I can find anything that comes close to being acceptable to me for any extended periods let alone make it to "the one and only" ?? Ha! So I have quite a few on frequent rotation ... BUT I really would like to find and settle on that one special flavour. It'd make things so much simpler. Ah, well ... *sigh*

Hardware I'm pretty much sorted on for the rest of my natural . . . . and well beyond! ( The thought occasionally flits through my head that I ought to make some provision for the boxes of clobber I've amassed, as I'd be gutted to think of it all just going into landfill. ) Since the excesses of the pre-TPD smash n grabs I've bought very little, mainly coils and the occasional bargain #toogoodtoresist . . . . . because they have to be done! Although I'm not bothered about having the latest equipment, I tend to use stuff until it fails - then move on to a fresh setup from the accumulations. ( I'd always keep at least a 100 ciggies ' in stock ' because I don't like to run out of anything. ) The same cannot be said of my compulsive need to buy new concentrates, despite having hundreds of flavours and more recipes stacked up to try than I want to think about, I can easily be seduced into buying new ones - Vape Train Australia's range is my current spending passion, when I expect to mix/try all of these - goodness knows! But I'm not particularly concerned as new stuff helps keep vaping fresh and interesting for me, which is important. Hated the taste of a cigarette in my mouth, so the joy of finding something that can provide constant ' newness ' and satisfies my nicotine addiction is a wonderful thing in my world.

For me:- 1. any mod these days that's around £12-ish delivered that takes an 18650.....don't buy much as I have 8-10 fully working mods that will be used until death (including one Cloupor Mini which hasn't been used at all yet ) 2. Only use protank (with afc bases) and aerotanks, MTL around 1.5 - 1.8 ohm coils. 3. Only vape homebrew Inawera RY4.... I used to use 2 other flavours for 5% of my vaping, but even those fell by the wayside. The only variation these days is a bit of fruit menthol if (and only if) I have a stinking cold 4. vape minimum 80% PG juice and MTL vape. Can't stand high VG or DTL and sub-ohm vaping. Not into shineyitis, and know what I like and stick with it...... I did try to find a few alternative flavours at the last couple of Vapefests but was distinctly underwhelmed.

I prefer to be a late adopter - pick upgrades when they are cheap and the wheat has been sorted from the chaff.
Stuck with cartos and carto tanks until cartos became hard to find. Used some nice clearos until I got tired of the constant redesigns (and the new coils needed). Now have some low end VW mods and a set of cheap clone RTAs.
Happy with my setup and not planning on many new purchases for the foreseeable.

S'pose I also ought to add that My van is an old mk3 Trannie, My mobile fone gets laughed at by all & sundry, My music gets played via a record deck & valve amp & this lap-top only got 'up-graded' when the last one was dropped! Amazing that I even tried these new-fangled 'leccy fags in the 1st place!!!

I go in fits and spurts. At first I bought a lot, then stopped for a while and was satisfied. Then again another buying spree and then another more recently. But I still use all those things I've bought in the past (unless they are broken of course, which I try to replace with something similar). I've been vaping 5 years this year, yet every morning I still use 2 ego-c twists with mini protank ones with recoiled kanger coils in at around 1.4 ohms, with any old tobacco eliquid - probably from poundland. At weekends I then go to a MVP2, again with a mini protank and some cheapo eliquid. When I go to work I take 2 simple mods (istick, now a coolfire iv) with mini nautilus tanks and 0.7 ohm nautilus 2 coils. One tank with homemade Heisenberg, one with Red Astaire. At night I use 3 Smok mods with smok big baby/baby beast/prince tanks using homemade eliquids, mainly sweet stuff. As for eliquids I really will vape almost anything. I've bought second hand eliquids from forums, and vaped every one, no matter how rank they are lol - not fussy me. I got a load of concentrates from here second hand and I'm working my way through those. A quick sniff, then 100ml, a bit of steeping and away I go - always finish it off. I have bought some Kreeds custard and banana concentrates though as they are nice, and I do let them steep for weeks to improve the flavour.
As for smoking, I could go back to tomorrow easily. I love smoking and always will, just now I vape instead - and always will.

I've probably been round the block with vape gear for two main reasons. 1. Having stopped smoking, I have funds to participate in a purchase should I see something that takes my fancy. 2. I like to try new stuff. Having said that, on a fair few occasions, new stuff as much as I looked forward to receiving it, left me underwhelmed. On that point it is not unknown for me to receive an item in the morning and it's in the "for sale" section in the afternoon either that or under a hammer. Probably at the moment, I'm as happy with vaping and the various set ups I use as I've ever been. So at the moment there's six squonkers set up and one rta with different flavours, all of which I could quite happily vape on all day long, but prefer to chop and changed at various times throughout the day and night. Call it consumerist/materialistic or whatever, everyone has the right to treat their vaping as they see fit and each individual will have their own take on things. One part of vaping I won't participate in is the massaging of a mod makers ego. For me the biggest piece of nonsense is the faceache X1 fiasco, one in particular was so cringe worthy it was embarrassing.

yourgurnard - I also wonder if many people see vaping as a hobby or interest whereas smoking was just a habit? That could account for more people trying more new kit and gizmos and certainly different whereas the "analogue" cigarette pretty much came in a set format?
