For all those worried about their E-cigs or E-Cig batteries exploding I have pinched this from the White Clouds E-Cig website after seeing it on Vapourtrails TV last night. Blurb from the website: "The makers of White Cloud Electronic Cigarettes wondered if there was really an exploding e cig, and what could have made the e cig explode? They assembled a team of e cigarette mythbusters who tried to make an e-cig blow up by subjecting it to some pretty harsh tortures. Here’s a list of a dozen rigorous experiments they performed to test the e cigarette battery. White Cloud Electronic Cigarettes prepared an exploding E Cig video highlighting these 12 rigorous experiments. Read more: www.whitecloudelectroniccigarettes.com/#ixzz1v8Nbs31D"

That's a good video Des and it really does show how much a battery can be put through without it going bang.
So when i hear about batteries going bang i just cannot get my head around what could have caused it.
Especially the news report of the lady not so long ago who had a cigalike go bang on here just by taking it out of the package.
You know the one that shot across the room, knocked over a 15lb ornament, hit the cat, flew out the window and took out the postman across the street. Yet she had no damage to her hands on screen !

Torchy is a bit of a nutter, but quite serious (an anorak I suppose) when it comes to batteries etc. I have spoken to him about torches for cycling and diving and TBH I would take his advice when it comes to batteries. Once I didn't, and bought a torch and batteries directly from China. The torch was fine, but the batteries were actually fake Trustfires, looking at them they didn't even resemble the real ones I had. I would never had imagined someone would counterfeit already cheap batteries. Is a bit of a worry, especially if you leave them charging. With a bit of shopping around you can get top quality name brands for very little more than unbranded ones.

None of those test were performed on a big battery mod, without vents. That is, I believe, where the problems lie. You can see in the video, even with the tiny batteries they test, that hot gas vents in almost all situations. The 'explosion' occurs when there is a lot of gas, venting from a big battery, sealed inside a tube mod or similar with no vents. The pressure build up of compressed gas and heat is what causes the explosion. So this video doesn't really cover the problem at all, all it proves is that ciggalikes are a lot safer, although I've certainly never heard a confirmed case of a ciggalike exploding in the first place, so pointless.
I only say this because I don't think people should take any less care with their big batteries, and what mods they put them in, whereas this video might confuse some folks into thinking that big battery mods are the same thing, and that little or no care needs to be taken. The work done on VTTV shows that it is very hard to cause a battery to fail, but care still needs to be taken, and mods definitely need to have vent holes.
