Helping a friend to quit the stinkies. Wants simplicity so i’m Going to give him a tfv8 tank to start with so it’s top fill. Doesn’t want the hassle of 18650s so looking for a fixed battery mod. Anyone have anything suitable they’d be willing to sell? Or know somewhere in the uk with a good price for a suitable product? If there a better choice of tank? I’m not very subjective as I haven’t tried any products other than my own.
As an aside - Is it safe to charge a single 18650 based mod via USB or still advisable to use a standalone charger?

Always best to use a separate charger but in a pinch usb does work just not over the long term better safe than sorry.

Your friend shouldn't run into too many problems charging a single 18650 mod by USB, but it would be quicker and better to do so with a charger. Two or three 18650s is where it gets a bit dicey, I only trust DNA boards not to screw balanced charging up and the time issue definitely comes into play there. I really liked the TFV4, 8 and 12, the Prince less so and haven't messed around with any of the Babies/millions of variations that Smok seem to throw out there on a weekly basis. For someone getting started who doesn't know about the more recent/better gear it will be more than fine. A lot better than the gear I started with. My only concern would be how readily available the coils are these days. Might not be an issue, but I'd have a quick search to see if many vendors still stock them before handing it over.

tbh if mod has a usb charging port i tend to use it and they should tell you in the manual if the usb is not for charging the tv8 is a bit power hungry normally so a single batt mod might not give him much run time as they are coming off the fags would it not be better starting them on a mtl setup with a tank like the nautilus and it will be much more like smoking

Looks good! Would try one of these myself perhaps as a rival for my mvp4.

That’s exactly what I was thinking. I gave away a charger with a single battery mod - think it was an evic- and he always charges via USB. I’ve stopped using my Wismec RX2/3 in favour of my mvp4 and coolfire 4plus to cut out the need to carry batteries + charger + charging bag when traveling. I have a stockpile of coils anyway for the tanks so no issue there but have some Wotofo flow coils on order. They seem to run at lower wattage and still produce good flavour.
