And today's daft question is about washing machines. So i've always used either tablets or liquitabs for detergent which always go straight in the drum and those washing machine cleaning tablets which also straight in the drum, as a consequence the only thing i've used the drawer for is conditioner. Well for some reason i broke the habit of a lifetime and bought some washing machine cleaning stuff that is liquid, the instructions are to pour the stuff in the detergent compartment of the drawer, when i did that the liquid immediately drains out of the compartment is that normal?

Yes, it will drain into the machine, ready for the iminent wash. (assuming that I've understood you correctly and that you aren't standing in a pool of detergent!)

I use those little softy measuring cups, I think they came from Persil, and throw them into machine. I don’t use softener and don’t bother with the drawer thingy.

Im the same, put all my liquids in a little plastic cup in the drum whether it says to or not. It always irks me that there is always some left in the draw after the wash. Thats good money not going down the drain.

Me neither . . . . fabric conditioner is one of the worst things ever apparently for clogging up pipes and causing problems with washing machines, so I was once told.
I tend to use those pod things now and just chuck them in the machine, although they do contain some softener it's nowhere near as much as what I used to put separately in the drawer. ( Which doesn't get gunked up either using these. )
Our area has dreadfully hard water, but my washing still dries soft and fragrant.

Can’t help I’m afraid. The only thing I can do with a washing machine is pay for it.
