I fear I have been done on eBay.
I bought an item (auction) which has arrived in a dreadful state. This damage was not caused in transit, it is long standing damage which makes the item unusable, unsafe and unattractive. It was described as "factory refurbished" but is nothing or the sort.
I expect the seller will want me to foot the bill to return the item claiming they knew nothing about it and all the rest. Quite frankly, if there was any justice, I'd get a refund in under 12 hours and not bother to send it back - it can go straight in the bin really.
1. Damaged before sale. 2. Incorrect item (not as per listing, different model) 3. Unsafe (probably, as it's electrical) 4. Generic photos used to sell it.
Any advice folks?

Grab a screen shot of the Sellers page and the description and get some pics of the actual item you received so then you have clear evidence which might help if you paid by paypal, can't comment on other methods of payment.

yeah, take pictures and open a case. I'm sure Ebay will find in your favour.

I have pictures my end. Do I need to screenshot the original listing? (I've done it anyway)... Thanks guys, you've given me some hope at least. It no doubt takes a while too which is frustrating because I'd like to get on an buy another one.

Give PayPal as much background information as possible I say djs . . . . some time ago now I bought a Barbour jacket advertised as ' Brand New ' but belt missing on the listing. Well when it eventually arrived it was in a fearful state, it smelt of mould, had old payslips in the pocket, chewing gum wrappers and was clearly well worn - Brand New, I begged to differ!!
The Seller's response was what do you expect, it was a bargain and then closed her account . . . . one was not amused.
So I took it to a PP dispute ( item not as described ) after thinking can I really be bothered - by then though it was a matter of principle to me. ( Especially when on a work basis I give ' Goodwill ' refunds to folk for on occasions the most ridiculous of reasons.)
Sent them photo's of everything and they recovered sufficient money from the account to reimburse me after giving the Seller opportunity to respond - which she never did.

Totally held up their hands and are sending me a brand new one. So I get a new one for under half price and get to keep the old one... which is working... Not counting chickens yet but could be a super result.
