I asked if I could vape in The Blues Bar in Harrogate and I was told "No, it's gives other people the wrong impression" ???

you would think landlords would at least know what they are, I mean they come into contact with more people than the average person, so surely some of them must vape?

You would think so but the pub in Harrogate did know what they were and the barman was quite apologetic about it but his boss had told him no ecigs in the pub.

I vaped in my local a few weeks ago without asking and although I had a few stange glances from other customers, I wasn't stopped.

I can really understand your frustration Gaz, but maybe you took it just a little bit too far the other night?

It is difficult getting the use of ecigs properly accepted in a lot of pubs - why? I've no idea!

The old argument of 'looks like a fag so smokers will light up' does not really hold any water these days. Smokers know that they cannot smoke in a pub - we are 5 years down the line since the smoking ban.

It is the right of any landlord to refuse to serve anyone that they deem 'unsavoury' in any way shape or form.

The important thing for us to remember is that we are pioneers and irresponsible vaping will have a negative effect on our ability to 'smoke' in pubs in the near future.

If we all just use a bit of common sense (which isn't that common these days!), we can enjoy using ecigs in proper pubs with no objections

I understand that the landlord has to right to refuse service and entry..whai im saying is the last time i was in there i vaped in front of him and nothing was said...now there might be a new policy in place so i will ask the landlord the rules and if theres no vaping...i wont vape

I haven't had any problems vaping in clubs or bars at all, except two people who thought I was smoking but when I held up the ego they just laughed and apologised.

I was in a pub/resturant in Portsmouth at the weekend, and as we were eating I did not take out my kit and start making clouds out of respect for others and that I really did not want one then. When paying the bill, I asked the waitress if it was alowed. She said that she thought it was and that she used to work in "Tiger Tiger" and it is alowed in there, but she will check with the management. A few mins later she came back and said that it was fine. I thanked her and went outside into the sun to vape. I find it strange that a resturant would be willing to let someone Vape where as a pub would not.

What I have just done is to send a polite email off to Brains brewery to ask them their official stance on electronic cigarettes. I am not sure if I will get anything back from them, but it is worth a go. If I do get a response, I will post it on here. Fingers crossed that it is good news so it can be a feather in the cap for us vapors

Bad news I am afraid, I got a very quick reply from them

Dear Mr Cornfield

Thank you for taking the time and trouble to email.

As a company we have taken the decision to ban the use of electronic cigarettes on all our managed house premises.

We have adapted to the smoking ban and see no reason for the return of ‘smoking devices’ inside our premises. We also hold the view that the devices provide the potential for conflict or complaint from other customers, and also provide an unnecessary challenge and a potential for conflict with our staff.

I hope that this clarifies our policy for you.

Yer and you know the landlord was not just being a plonker. We all have to follow the rules given to us, no matter how much we dissagree with them.
