From panic buying, planned closures, empty supermarket shelves, planned hospital triage/prioritising patients.... etc.

Who's managed to bag some toilet roll, pasta and VG

I'm guessing that it is a foodstuff that can be stored, similar to canned food which is being cleared from the shelves.

Ummm - I had heard the mindless panic buying of bog rolls had progressed to both UK and US - this seems to confirm it. Scenes of fights between buyers over toilet rolls in supermarket isles are being reported here.

Crazy stuff.

Meanwhile I wanna coupla electronic bits and bobs for a new puter. Ordred same from China since they are not very common here. Feedback from suppliers and tracking suggests delivery might be some time before early 2029 ... iffn I'm lucky. *sigh*



++ Oh and a few drops of "essential oil" for a "pretty smell" can be added to the above formula for hand sanitiser if that's your wish. ISO alcohol - the base component is often available from hardware and electronic parts stores too.

Working in a supermarket, albeit of modest proportions . . . . I can honestly say it's been crazy, mental busy these last 10 days and as many staff as possible have been working around the clock to keep as much of the basic items as possible ( depending on deliveries ) available for customers to buy.

But! We've even had customers complaining that there's no loo roll or pasta on the shelves on occasions.

We've also been selling loads of alcohol - so the plan seems to be, if you do have to self isolate it won't be so bad if you while away the time tipsy!

Been in the Ukraine all week, flying back today they are locking down here tommorow. The whole office are working from home now, we are not allowed to go in. I am glad to be avoiding 2 hours on 4 very crowded trains everyday.

I like Perpetua work in a supermarket and it is now just nuts, folks buying 4 or 5 24 packs of toilet roll and in the same trolley 12 or more bottles of fresh orange juice kind of a self perpetuating issue lol, thankfully they are now being limited to the amount of things they can purchase in one go, at least it gives others a chance to possibly get some shopping in particularly the elderly or infirm. Just as a example of the panic buying effect we had no meat poultry etc by around 2pm yesterday same with tinned food,pasta, noodles etc.

I personally think that stupidity is killing more people than the virus itself...

So far in Greece we have 4 deaths and the total incidents are more than 250...

Everyday we have more and more sections closing and what is open is bakeries, supermarkets and takeaway/deliveries...

Authorities have stated that we have to stay at home, not quarantined but at home...

What is really happening is that some stupid people gathering in forests, seaside, illegal beach bars, attacking supermarkets and buying things that might never use in quantities that won't use in 1000 lives... Furthermore you take things that someone else might really need it...

Blackmarket is also at its best... It's easier to find gold in qood price rather than finding items of emergency (such as masks, gloves, sanitizing lotions, etc) in normal prices... You can have masks for 2 euros and its real price is about 20-25 cents.... Greek State is really thinking of seizing such items in order to protect the public...

Pretty much like an Occupational Syndrome...

Whoever posts any stupidity in socials is affecting the majority of people, much more compared to State Officials and scientific community... At the first days we had a large amount of Bishops claiming that the faith, Holy Water, etc is the only way for someone to be protected from the virus and they were massively calling people to the Churches...

And imagine that the largest amount of virus carriers and incidents, belong to a group of Religious Tourists that returned from an excursion in Holy Lands...

Insanity and stupidity at their best...

Schools are closed the last 3-4 days, and parents were taking their kids to coffee shops and then to the movies... Coffee shops were full with old people, which according to them, were "defying" the virus...

An old man that was treated as a potential virus carrier and was quarantined in the hospital, escaped... They were looking for him 2 days and eventually he returned when it was confirmed that he is clean...

I really wonder how irresponsible some people can be... I really do... In such cases the only thing that can be done is Martial Law but at the same time someone can protest against the violation of Democracy...

Well, Democracy is not doing anything you think you have to do so to get me dead, but all the responsible actions of your to keep me alive...

AND NOT STAYING AT HOME YOU ARE NOT KEEPING YOUSELF AND ME ALIVE!!!

NOT FOLLOWING OFFICIAL GUIDELINES YOU LEAD ME TO DEATH!!!

STAY AT HOME MORONS!!! IT'S THE ONLY WAY TO SURVIVE!!!

One of my colleagues get their flight cancelled because the was a stopover in schengen. They couldn't get on my flight but have a ticket for tomorrow, probably the last possible flight. The Stanstead Express is almost empty.

Well shortly after i posted that we are in tenerife, we found out that we are now on a "soft lock down in hotel". This means we are allowed to go to get medicine or food and then return to hotel.

Apparently we will know alot more tomorrow!
