Sad news .... according to UKV :

Prof Mark Stiles aka Prof Beard passed away early on Saturday morning.

The message from his son is :

"It is with great sadness that I have to inform you all that Mark passed away early on Saturday morning, 22nd of August, from complications arising from his lung cancer, passing away peacefully without any pain at the hospice. As per his wishes, there will not be a funeral. I know he would like to thank everyone he knew for their support, friendship and enriching his life. Thank you from myself Frank, Christine, Jack and the rest of his family."

He'll be sorely missed.

I'm sure that some here on AAEC will have brushed shoulders with Mark at Vapefest in the past.

Vaping was definitely a passion for him, and one he was very keen to pass on to other people.

Sad that vaping wasn't about for him at a younger age...

Sad news indeed . . . while I didn't have much in the way of contact with him, I always used to think of Prof Beard as one of the ' Founding Fathers ' of vaping in the UK.

Mark was one of the main people who advocated vaping in the early days and helped smokers like me find a better way.
