Was having a meander around my local Tesco yesterday and saw an entitled cretin wandering around blatantly openly vaping whilst doing their shopping.
I wouldn't normally bother to post on stuff like this but it's that we all get tarred with same brush thing.
Vapers and vaping are constantly under the negative microscope - disposables - under age sales - sales of illegal and counterfeit items - kids trying vaping who never smoked etc etc.
You see people vaping on buses and trains now. Again, it's pure entitlement.
A frustrating thing.
Any thoughts?

I've asked a chap to cease vaping in our store before now Andy . . . if it's not legal to smoke somewhere, then vaping falls under the same umbrella. Not that I necessarily agree with the hysterical banning of vaping everywhere - far from it. But we've the ignorant to ' thank ' for that.
The other side of the coin, on a break I was having a few puffs stood just outside our grotty smoking shelter as there was a couple of folks having a smoke and I didn't want to go back to work smelling of ciggies - one of our non regular delivery drivers directed me to the shelter, for his trouble he got treated to a withering look and told to get a grip.
The feeling of ' entitlement ' extends to numerous situations it seems, I've had customers complain because they can't bring their non service/assistance dogs in shopping as they don't want to leave them tied up outside ( fair enough ) perhaps they ought to consider leaving their pets at home whilst doing food shopping. There's actually no law banning any dogs in shops, John Lewis ( with the exception of the cafes ) allow well behaved ones in all stores which as a dog owner and lover I think is brilliant, most enlightened.
Time and a place for all things, which some individuals appear to have no concept of and as always it's the tiny minority who give those of us who have greater respect a bad name.

Without wishing to start an argument here, it's not actually illegal to vape in a shop. The shops can ban them if they so wish, i'm not sure wether Tesco has banned vaping in it's stores but all Aldi shops have. There is no vaping signs at the entrance to Aldi now. Same as in pubs, some establishments allow it, some don't. The ones that don't, say it causes confrontation with smokers so it's easier to ban both. I vape in my local club when i visit. As for the smoking shelters, i won't use it if smokers are in it, i gave up smoking and don't want to inhale second hand smoke. Some sites i visit have separate vape shelters away from the smokers but not all factory bosses think alike. (And no, i don't vape in Tesco )

bluemagnum - Interesting 🙂. I hadn't even thought of the legal position - more just from a common sense and courtesy kind of angle I guess - although if McDonald's has to label coffee as "might be hot" I guess I shouldn't be surprised some shops have to put out "No vaping" signs. I think maybe because a vape rather than a cig can be "just one puff" but the thought and sight of people doing it supermarkets and the like does mildly irk me. I also bet it could end up in some curious discussions with security staff too...

In Australia - it is. Very much so. Shops, libraries, offices ... essentially - any "public" indoor place.
In essence, our federal Govt changed the smoking rules (the where and when you can smoke bits) to re-define smoking to include e-cigarettes/vaping.
Basically, in a city or the suburbs here - if you cannot legally smoke, you cannot legally vape.

I had a discrete vape in hospital during the pandemic. I don't blow clouds though.
