So it has been announced in the budget - "A new tax on vapes of £2.20 per 10ml of e-cigarette liquid will kick in from October 2026."
A flat rate no matter the nicotine content. Time to look into DIY'ing your own liquid again I reckon.
Assuming nicotine free liquid will still attract the tax ... Currently about £10 for a 50ml short fill of Red Astaire (I still love it after all this time) and £1 for a 10ml nic shot = £11 After tax £10 shortfill + £11 tax + £1 nic shot + £2.20 tax = £24.20 !!!
What's everyone else's thoughts on this - Not bothered or not happy ?? or will nic free liquid be exempt ??

There's not enough info yet on the detail charliehorse .... but I'm presuming/hoping that DIY remains largely untouched, for the old timers like us. PG, VG, and flavourings are used in other things. Compound concentrated flavouring vendors could also find loopholes by selling them for 'baking' etc, in a similar way to how many adapted to the TPD / tiny 10ml bottle restrictions for e-liquid (i.e. short/long fills), etc. The tax may be only on 10ml nicshots/ready made 10ml e-liquid, but I would be guessing. .... we'll just have to wait and see. RE.: am I "not bothered or not happy" ..... at the moment both !

My thoughts are in a similar vein to Dave's charliehorse . . . for us there will be ' workarounds ' one way or another. For those new to vaping or considering switching from tobacco it's a different story. Make our pleasurable activity too costly, then where's the incentive for anyone? Other than to encourage the growth of black markets where sub-standard products could potentially be available. Am I happy? Doesn't take too much thinking about to give a categoric NO on just about everything since the GE.

Here we go again.
When the TPD was about to come into force I bought 30 litres of nic in PG & VG.
The PG ran out this year but thanks to the 'light hand' TPD enforcement my supplier had scrapped the 'not for vaping' declaration before I ran out.
If they tax bulk nicotine then eliquid producers will have to put prices up on top of the tax.
I have my work around planned for the tax on 10ml.
