Has anyone managed to take a Lava Tube apart? I dropped one of mine and thought it works fine now I had the end cap come off (connector end not the battery end) I was looking inside it and it appears to have either a screw in metal cap or a glued one. As I am getting further into the modding game, I thought about using the inards of the LT in one of my mods. so was wondering if anyone has managed to get it all apart without breaking anything?

dont think its advisable...spoken to a couple of ppl who said they tried but the board is glued in there and it cracked when getting out. the top cap connections can be resoldered on if you have problems there though
actually saying that GD used one in a mod in his show so must be possible....could pm him asking.

GD?
I have taken a few batteries apart and have destroyed a few too lol I just like the idea of using the LT circuit with a bypass transistor to up the power so it can handle what I am thinking of throwing at it. It just makes it easier than trying to micro size my own circuit

I have ripped mine appart after it fell to bits and done a poor man dibley version just be very wary the wires are so thin and a soldering iron can be a bugger to add wires to the board i now have a mash up with hot glue but a working version of a dual battery l/t in a tin now i have prototyped it i will replace with a tidy version and my thoughts were to place the board in an internal box with wires protruding thus enabling it to be switched to another mod at a later date This will not be offered not to anyone as i am nowhere near to warlord(mark) standard and yes i play safe i dont work at height and i always wear a harness (and codpeice)
Dont forget to tin your tip (gd style) and sodder (as in steeljan stylee)

I've stayed out of this as to be honest you're all going great and doing well enough without my input lol not only that no one has let me take their lavatube apart yet so the images is all i've seen until mine dies on me and i decide to rip the guts out - When Garry did the one for VTTV he ripped the absolute daylights out of the tube itself to get the board out in one piece - it might be worth giving it a wiggle to see if it's loose or glued solid - if it's glued solid you can get glue solvent which if your clean enough with should help you get everything out in one piece

I have done it, I got impatient and decided to have a go gently. I now have a completely dis assembled LT When I have a bit of time I will take pictures of it and do a write up on how it came apart. It is suprisingly easy.

I think if I did not have another one I would not of gone very far with it, but I do and have another one on the way. For refference though there is no glue holding the circuit board in place, it is soldered to a ring that is compression fitted into the tube, and has a drift pin put in.

For reference though there is no glue holding the circuit board in place, it is soldered to a ring that is compression fitted into the tube, and has a drift pin put in. They really didn't want anyone just taking it apart, did they?
