Does anybody else use the scheme? My current lease is up for renewal so I've been out looking today and I 'think' I'm settled on the Nissan juke The only problem is, according to motability, the model I would have to have (it would have to be an auto as I need adaptations) can't be driven by people under 25 years of age The car wouldn't be delivered until September and I turn 25 on April 3rd so it's only 7 months, and I would have gone for the manual which can be driven by under 25's but the manual can't be adapted in the way I need. I have been to see other cars but the juke is by far the most comfortable for me with it being such a high driving position and it has really good visibility, the wing mirrors are massive which reduces the blind spots somewhat meaning I don't have to turn in the seat so much which I find difficult. The motability man at the dealer said that if they say no I cannot drive it, we can appeal giving the reasons above. I just hope that they either say yes to begin with or say yes on appeal as I really don't want to have to choose another car that doesn't suit my needs/isn't comfortable for me If anyone uses the motability scheme, what are your opinions?

I don't know how long the appeal takes, but can't you just do that and see where you get?

Thanks sandra Womble- I think that's what I'm going to do, I'm going back to the dealer tomorrow to show my mum the car and to double check the advance payment and when they would need that by and then if that all goes to plan I'll get the order in and hope for the best! #fingers#

Thanks Gordy Nicky- according to motability, if under 25's want to drive a car it has to be a) ABI group 16 or under AND b) not over 110bhp!!! The juke is ABI group 12 so fine on that one, but it is a whole 7 bhp over!! It's 117 bhp. Since I passed at 17, I've driven loads of cars with a higher bhp than that lol! The fact that it's ABI 12 is what is making me think they might be ok with it, as I'm sure the ABI group is more relevant than a measly 7 bhp over their 'maximum'. Haha global, I wish it was that one!!! No it's the 1.6 acenta

From the insurer's perspective, their underwriters base premiums on the risk factors involved - typically age, postcode and vehicle. Under 25s represent the biggest risk, so they put restrictions and prohibitive premiums on. I hope you're able to sort it bee, there's nothing worse than missing out on something by a tiny fraction

Well I went and ordered the car today and so far so good! the dealer had to ring motability to finish the application and the phone call seemed to go well, he explained to them that the ABI group was 12 (therefore low enough) and they agreed so all being well I should receive my pin in the post in the next couple of days, which will mean that the application has been accepted and that the car order has gone through. Then if all goes to plan, I'll get the car at the beginning of September

This is what you need Ratz... A spacegenie I would love a bike and to be able to ride one but I can't walk lol let alone ride a bike I've got practically no movement in my right leg/hip joint, so unless it's a bike I don't have to pedal and has a proper seat (ie. not a bike seat) I've got no chance
