I live in an old house with solid brick internal walls. I'm with Virgin and have recently upgraded to 60mb with their 'super hub'. The internet performance on the pc is stunning, but wireless leaves a lot to be desired. I'm a couple of rooms away with my laptop and getting about 30% signal (-66db) Can anyone recommend a booster or repeater that will improve this signal? The super hub doesn't have an antenna socket so I can't upgrade the ariel

you checked out home plugs? if not go look them up they are very good but then need to run of the ring main in your house, as long as your plug sockets are connected to the main it should be fine

I have the superhub and the 60mb broadband, i run apple tv in the front room and my ps3 and a sonos system, the hub is upstairs in the bedroom, in the loft i run my pc and mac and of this i run wirelessly in a house which is just over 110 years old, in all honesty i have no issues with speed at all, but I do know the home plugs work as i have various friends using them..
as for Virgin helping you, good luck they didn't even know there was a known firmware issue with their old modem causing macs to be unable to connect ;-)
one other issue you could check is the type security settings you are running and which port you have the hub running on, these can all cause bad signals.

I have modified my post with a link, other devices like cordless phones or neighbours can interfere, it may help to choose the channel with the least congestion.

I think I saw a vid on youtube many moons ago where you could make a signal booster with some aluminium foil and cardboard and was reported to work well..You could give that a try by searching youtube..
I think you can also use certain old routers to act as repeater access points. So check any old routers you have and see if they'll act as repeater access point..

I remember someone using an antenna made from a Pringles Carton!

I still have the old netgear router that was installed before the superhub - might that work?

One thing i will point is that your super hub is actually registered with Virgin, if you switch it over to another one, if your service dies or has problems sometimes it won't start working again, as it no longer recognised the router.
Had this problem with my old set up, due to macs not working with the old super hub i ran a normal Virgin modem & a dlink wireless router, connected windows pc's to one and macs the other, until the old virgin router died, lucky for my then they had fixed the firmware issues they had with the superhub and macs...

I'm not thinking of replacing the superhub ciar, just improving the signal further away from it
