Can anyone recommend a wireless booster / repeater

I have exactly the same problem with the 60mb Virgin Super Hub Oneday . . . desk top is brilliant, laptop downstairs is at times painfully slow to use with the wireless connection.

And I don't live in an old house with solid internal walls either.

Tis a shame.... the old netgear gave a better signal

Aha the virgin one..I got a few of those lying around and I seem to remember I erased Virgin's firmware and put the original netgear firmware on the one I was using with Virgin at the time..

I'll have a look around tomorrow and keep you posted if I find anything that might be of assistance. You are ok flashing firmware to routers with TFTP I take it..

I flashed the odd mobile phone but never a router... is it a question of connecting with a CAT5 and running an .exe file?

More or less, but may be from a command prompt rather than a GUI, where you pick the file and press a button..

Step 1: Unlock your router and free it from Virgin firmware lock

Step 2:

Update to newest firmware from netgear:

support.netgear.com/product/WGR614v9

Use firmware 1.2.6 firmware file for all regions except NA.
