Hi folks can someone help me out with this. I use LR cartos with my Ego batteries, but can they be used with the Riva batteries?

I was told anything under 2ohms (could) damage the Riva ones, so I'm only going to try them on the Ego ones. Though I'm sure someone more knowledgable will come along

Thanks for that Malibu. The LR Boges are 2ohms, so should be ok!

Not that I am recommending anything to anyone, and if I damage my batteries, be it on my own head, but I everyday direct drip on a LR 306 on either a Riva, Ego, Twist etc, whatever happens to be charged and in my hand, the first two are Totally wicked Ego 650 and are as old as I have been vaping, the others are newer.

Thanks Sandra, I'm not that bothered what I put on top of a battery, but trying to advise newer members who perhaps don't have as many back ups as us can be a bit tricky

Thankyou for this thread Karma, so it seems it's ok to use them, mind you my ones are 1.8, but it should be ok I think

Karma, maccafan, the guru of all things battery, first mentioned the 2.0 ohm rule. Apparently the Riva batteries have thiner internal wires which COULD overheat and become un-soldered if anything below 2.0 is used on them. Note the emphasis on 'could'

LOL..I am no guru, just what I read and remember and I happen to work in an engineering environment and have easy access to some reasonably knowledgeable people that's all.. Cloud9vaping mention the same thing in case any one is interested.. ClickyHaving seen the wire gauges inside many RIVA's that I repaired and the failure mode, I wouldn't put a LR atty/carto/clearo on them for any extended period of time if I wanted them to last. Take nothing away from the RIVA, it's a good battery for the price but putting a LR carto would be abusing it.

Thanks for the thread and responses, Macca, would you say not even use 2.0 ohms on a Riva for long periods? I've just bought a load of 2.0 ohms LR boges and have been using them on my Riva as I love he Vape from them more than the SR ones

2 ohms should be fine..A freshly charged RIVA comes off the charger at 4.1-4.2 volts..Under load it puts put 4 volts for the first few puffs which on a 2 ohm carto is a 2 amp draw, which looks to be about the limit for ego sized devices..The voltage drops quite rapidly to stabilise at 3.7 volt which is nominal output for these battery types..
The 2 amp limit would be a good one to follow for genuine ego batteries too. But because they output a lower voltage of 3.2-3.3 volts under load, you can use a 1.6 ohm carto on them. However genuine Joyetech ego's do seem to have slightly thicker wires and seem to be able to cope with a 1.5 ohm carto quite well.
So 2 ohm should be fine with a RIVA and with usage the resistance of cartos increases.
Anything under 2 ohm is potential wire failure territory for the RIVA..I am not saying it WILL fail but that it MIGHT fail.
