OK, so i've been vaping for 4 weeks (and one day haha) and have an assortment of clearomisers and a vivi nova.
I haven't felt the need to bin any of them yet, but there are a couple that i think might be reaching the end of their lives.
Problem is, usually when i think one might be going, i add a bit more juice and it's ok again.
So, the question is, how do you know for sure it's time to dump the clearo rather than the wicks having got a bit dry and needing more juice?

Have you been rinsing and dry-burning them?

Yeah, i have with some, i haven't been using them all at equal rates. The ones i've rinsed and dry burned aren't always the dodgy ones.
I don't want to chuck them out if i don't have to, but equally i don't want to waste a full clearo of juice because i don't recognise the early signs.

Can't help with the Nova as not tried it yet. But for cartos/clearos, it's really up to whether you are happy with the drop off in performance or not

There's no particular 'oh-oh this one is dead' sign or taste? I should just chuck it if i'm not sure about it?

I have some clearos that just seem to go on and on. The beauty of these over cartos is that if one suddenly does die you don't need to waste the juice.... just unscrew the mouthpiece and pour it back in the bottle. If a fully charged carto dies the juice is stuck in there and has to be binned.

The most common death-knell for a clearo is that the draw becomes harder until you're sucking your cheeks together

That's sort of why i am confused, i have some clearos from day 1 of vaping that are still great, but some i bought a couple of weeks in seem a bit ropey.

I'm still using one that's 4 weeks old, but I keep them to tobacco juices and don't expect too much, so it doesn't really bother me, I've yet to find a sign that one is well and truly dead, except as Oneday says, the inverted hamster cheek issue

the inverted hamster cheek issue I think as my current batch die I'm going to replace with V3's then at least all you need to do is replace the head

With the clearo's a lot depends on the juice, some juices gunk up the coils quicker (build up of hard carbon deposit) whilst others leave less residue. When the vape becomes weak with the clearo's I clean and dry burn them, some get a lot better others don't the ones that don't I put aside for spares or re-wicking.
If you have a VV device you can up the voltage as they start to get weak which makes them last longer as well.

How long does a dry burn need to be done to burn of carbon? All the vids seems to show a nice red glowing coil, I didn't get that with mine I might just replace the head and be done with it though. Just shone my LED torch at the coil, and it is actually a dull silver colour, so it obviously worked still didn't shine red though ???

I do it until my battery cut out 10 or 15 seconds I think that is and I do it about 5 or 6 times, always get a red glow (on the vision ego clearomiser, haven't dry burned a viva nova yet)

I take it I can prime it by dripping juice onto it, and soaking the wick with drips before assembling the whole thing back together for use / testing? Also going to assume that will make it better?

I don't carry on burning long after I see the red glow cos I worried about the same thing, but then the wicks are usually wet so it's never been a problem for me, I don't know how well just trying a few drops will work on a clearomiser in a vape, they need to be pretty soaked in liquid I would have thought, otherwise you will get a dryish hit, but I dont know
