Thanks perpy I will try that once I get back in. Its been a big headache so far, but will try a drop of vaseline on the rings and inside. I havent got much strength in my wrists and this morning my fingers were quite puffy so thought I would leave it until the evening before I tried putting it together. I know that I can wick and coil.......... I was quite proud of my first attempt even though it wasn't totally neat but it fired up and a decent ohms on it. As I said I've made up a new wick and coil as the first one got a bit tatty due to me taking on and off last night. that it will be okay this evening

Esme, remove the bottom o-ring from the ceramic post, smear some vasseline on the threads inside the base and spend a few mins screwing the ceramic holder into the base and uncrewing it again, this'll loosen the threads up, when you've done that you can clean the base out with some paper towel. re-fit that bottom o-ring and re-assemble. What you are experiencing is restricted airflow, the coil is firing ok but no air is being drawn over it so it just get's hot.

You're a whisker away from getting your Penelope going, you really are Esme. I know you can do this.

Back home now, just in time to get Penelope's skirt plinth, she looks very pretty on the twist now. I'm finding the draw quite airy and not always getting a lot of vapour, but it seems to help the vapour when I open the juice control more. Is there a way to make her less airy? Almost out of mint chocolate chip, so I'm going to have a go at making my own coil from the wire i bought later and filling her up with Banana and Custard. I absolutely love her though, my best friend who is a physics teacher didn't expect me to build her without a phonecall to him for help, but I explained it was the great people on here who assited me Thanks everyone and I hope all of you who got Penelope this week are enjoying her too

All you need to do ellen is unscrew the ceramic holder just a tad so that the battery post doesn't protrude so far out, that'll restrict the airflow and it'll tighten the draw, that's why it's adjustable

Thanks Blakey, I will have to do that next time I change the coil though right? As the ceramic is holding the coil? Also if the battery thing isn't protruding so much, won't that mean that she may not fire like when I first put her together?

Put the base on the mod when you build it, screw the ceramic holder down till it makes contact with the battery terminal and the coil fires (make sure you have some juice on the coil/wick) then remove from the mod and give it half a turn clockwise. That should do the trick

Just watched Scott's video on making a coil for the Odysseus, is it ok to use his method exactly for the Penelope, with long & short wick?
Btw I love Scott's videos, so well made and helpful

But yes, the two wick method is what I use ellen well, actually I use 3 As a note though, only 1 strand of 3mm wick can go down the channel. I use a 2mm & 1mm together and a 2mm buffer section at the coil so all in all my wire goes round 5mm of wick- if you use the wick that came with it and did the same thing your wire would be going round 6mm of wick

#attachment# Just making sure I understand, so if I use Scott's method with the wick I have now, it will make the wick too thick? Or do I just need to make sure only one piece goes down the channels?

Sorry scrap that question, I was having a blonde moment, he snips the wick at the top, so only one section goes down the channel, but as you said the wire itself would be going around 6mm....so I guess it's best not to use that method until I have some other wick
