I haven't really experimented at all with setting it up, I've only done it exactly like the video, I'm gong to have a big attempt tomorrow and follow Blakey's tutorial too, hope things are a little looser now as I struggled to get 1mm showing and still don't know if it will do 5mm even now. The wick I'm talking about doing is the one scott makes in the video, supposed to be a great Vape that way. Need to do something, confident I can get her working right if I keep tinkering and follow advice given, I want this steam train people keep mentioning, defintely need to sort out the airiness, yes today I had it less airy than yesterday, but still not right. Need to get some zzzz so I can wake up in time to have a play around before tomorrow's night shift comes around

Yeah I'm unsure how far you could drop that pin through on a twist. I really haven't tried it so don't know if it will be the same. But you'll get it. Good luck with nights. It's my last. Woohoo!

Ellen, that center pin only needs to stick out by 1/4 of a mm, not 1mm and certainly not 5mm. That's why I suggest putting Penelope on the mod before you screw down the ceramic housing. Jay, on the ody with ggts base it doesn't matter how far you allow the post to protrude because the draw is dictated by the ggts's airflow control.

I'm a little envious of you Tim, you're obviously very good at this, you're getting Penelope vaping brilliantly. By tomorrow, I will have new wick & ceramic, planning on making a 5mm wick, now have a multimeter to check coils and know how to check and hopefully perfect the draw before I fill the tank up, so fingers crossed I will finally get to fully experience penelope's greatness tomorrow Don't be envious, I have rebuilt her many times over and over to perfect what is good for me, she didn't need to be rebuilt but I did it daily sometimes more until I was 100% sure I had got what I expected out of her. As a wise man once said "practice makes perfect" and I wanted to make sure I was going to get value out of what is an expensive investment. You will get there I promise, just keep asking the questions and practising

I collected Bert, my Penelope, today.... Bought some Vaseline from the local garage...
Bert is still in his bubble wrap bed and I don't want to disturb him, although part of me just wants to wrip the wrapping off and ruin our relationship before we even get to know eachother!
Might have a go at teasing him into shape later today...

Hats off to you all for having the determination to get to grips with the now infamous Penelope. I don't have a clue what you are all going on about but , will follow your posts until I get that Eureka moment, but even if and when do, I will not be buying one, my bank manager loves me, but not that much!

Each little bit of the device is so well wrapped it's easy to throw a bit away in the packaging

I would look at it this way..Will it outlast 100 cartomizers whilst giving you a better vape in the process?
It will and easily..You can also probably sell it with negligible depreciation after a year or two..So it's really a good bargain at a decent price..

I've had a frustrating day with mine, taken me 2 hours to do what took me half hour the other day, I will stick with it a bit longer, but I can't get it vaping right, mine may well be in the classifieds soon

It's that airiness I've got it a bit better, but still not right and I got the ceramic housing at the exact point before it stops firing, so I know that's as tight as the draw goes, not getting as much vapour as I hoped, the vapour is really thin if that makes sense. Didnt get all my wick in the post, so had to stick with the 3mm, that's my only other option is building a multi-wick and seeing if that makes better vapour, saying that this coil is better and I've only just started vaping on it so will see how it goes, but it is a nice 2 ohms

Aww ellen, don't get down hun, you will get there, and don't put it in the classifieds, even if you just put it in a drawer for a bit and come back to it I have an Ody that I hardly use but I don't want to sell because it comes in handy and no matter what happens in the future of ecigs, I will always have a rebuildable

I just had a frustrating day, wires wouldn't twist together then they were breaking etc....certain bits wouldn't unscrew etc, a bit of practice in coil making will probably help, I shouldn't have done it after waking up from a night shift, will be ok I'm sure when I've got more time to spend on it

Are you using it on a twist ellen? If so I would imagine that you have a plinth/collar to hide the threads? That being the case, try screwing the plinth all the way down and then screw the penelope onto the twist- Once that's done, unscrew the plinth till it meets the base of the penelope, That'll restrict the airflow a little bit more, I do that with my twists

Keep on twisting making sure they remain 90 degrees to each other to the end. Then you can confidentally cut it off to a shorter size and then wrap the wire back over. I'm packing for holiday or I would attempt a vid for you. As I said it was the one thing that made me cross when I was first doing them.
