Just coil the end joins around the wick and make it the last coil at both ends and only get bare wire out of the ceramic..That way the join stays inside the ceramic and you only get bare wires coming out which will make it easier to route through the channels..

Yay looks good esme. As people probably see I like uploading the odd photo now and again, so now I know im not the only one who had loose coils, heres a pic of one of my earlier attempts. One I was proud of I have to say! But this is what they shouldn't look like!

I ordered 3 metres from that German guy and it came REALLY quickly, excellent ebayer. It's a bit looser woven than the original wick but works fine. I didn't order the £10 crimping tool, just gonna flatten it with pliers and see how it goes Once you have crushed the tube by whatever means, just hold a flame to the joint and it should solder the joint neatly..99.9% silver will melt quite easily..

I'm sure some people can get it first time, but honestly, last week, that coil was every bit the same as scots! I believe that was probably a non firing attempt! Even looks like a res wire that one sticking down on left. Cant believe I would have held my breath to see if she lit up!

I've had mine for several days now and I'm too scared to even attempt to build it....
Sigh.

Lyn what you've got to remember is that the folks who get on fine first time with them don't tend to post on threads like this. There have been loads sold, so there's loads out there built and working. Take the plunge and you know where to come if you have a hiccup

Tbh Lynda . . . I've had no problems with either of mine really, other than finding the threads quite difficult to turn initially with my delicate girly handy pandies. It's considerably easier to coil up than the Odysseus, although the V2 is on a par for ease. But there is still a learning curve, no matter how simple something is, if it's unfamiliar to you. Don't forget 10pm tonight, ceramics are due to be on sale at Cam's.

my only grumble now is that I still can't see an end to spending...I bought the 0.16 wire as that's what everyone suggested and the thinner wick that everyone suggested. Maybe I wasn't understanding what people were saying before, Now I have loads of 0.16 wire that I don't seem to need as I'm almost out of 3mm wick. So now I need to buy 0.2 NC wire if I want to make multi wicks, or I need to buy 3mm wick if I want to use the 0.16 wire....and I know it's not much more money in the scheme of things, but I had kinda told myself that I was done spending

Lol I know what you mean ellen........ I've ordered more wick and some of those silver crimp tubes and the pliers. Had an email from Cam about the spacers, he said that he'll have them in so oh dear more spending lol (have to replace the one that Jason very kindly sent me)

Thinking about it, once I get good at this coiling lark, I can use that 0.16 to recoil my nova, so it won't be wasted.... What I'm trying to say to myself is "shut up Ellen and go buy some 0.2 NC wire"
