maine coons so laid back I still have fur on my clothes Chrissie lol , Warning for anyone visiting Chrissie ........ You WILL get smothered in cats and hair As for the over grooming is the cat suffering from a bit of boredom ?? Our cat tends to over groom his back ..... don't ask me how and the dog chews her toes , but we know in the dogs case its boredom as she only gets a mid day visit from the daughter

Has anything changed in your home kuro? Most cats don't like change of any kind & can get very upset especially if their routine is disrupted. No, we couldn't relate the point where we noticed him overgrooming to any significant changes in the house. Apart from the odd bit of furniture here or there, nothing significant has changed in the house since we got him, and we always place litter trays, food bowls, scratching posts, water bowls, etc, in the same places. Could always try getting a nice bag of catnip pellets, makes our cat high as a kite and very chilled out George does like catnip toys, but I wouldn't say he's chilled out by them - catnip sends him into hunting / scampering mode. As for the over grooming is the cat suffering from a bit of boredom ?? I don't know. I hope not. We do try to play with the cats and interact with them and make sure they have toys available, etc. We do keep them in the house when we're at work (which is 4 days a week, since I work at home 1 day a week) because we live fairly near to some busy roads and we don't want to encourage them to stray too far, so we mainly let them out only when we're at home (and they never seem to want to go too far anyway - they just explore the neighbours gardens up to about 4 or 5 houses up the road - where a dog lives! - then they come back.)

My first instinct on reading your thread - why are cats being brought onto a vaping thread?
Is it a vaping thing? vaping and cats? I do notice that most people have mostly cat pics in their galleries.
But anyhow, it's useful, because maybe some of you can help me:
Later on today I am going to pick up two new kittens. Two girls, one ginge, the other black tortoiseshell. Just under 8 weeks old. They will be named Chinaski and Meowski.
Aaawww.
Any tips on settling them in? Also, my sister, who lives in teh same house, has two of her own cats, both females, mum and daughter, aged 4 and 5.....both sort of friendly but also a little unpredictable and weird sometimes.....
Also have two dogs, a little mongrelly thing and my staff, Bimbo, who is fine with cats....
So. 7pm tonight I bring the cats in....then what do I do....?
Heard I'm sposed to chuck em in a sanctuary room (my bedroom) and make them comfortable....
I am washing teh dog smell out of my sheets and duvet as we speak.
Any tips?

Yes, booblay, with all those other animals it will be best if you just confine the kittens to one room for a few days while they all get used to the new animal smells I would recommend trying the feliway, it may help to settle the older cats as in my experience it's always the older cats that feel put out, kittens tend to be quite happy exploring a new environment Even though you're dogs are good with cats I would still keep my eyes on them, a little kitten is but a mere morsel to a dog BTW, the purpose of 'the Lounge' is for off topic non vaping threads

My first instinct on reading your thread - why are cats being brought onto a vaping thread? Just to clarify: This is not a vaping thread into which the subject of cats has been brought. It's a thread specifically about cats in a part of the forum intended for off topic (non-vaping) subjects.

Oh. I see. My kittens are currently hiding under the bed. They are not very impressed with me so far.

They are bound to be very scared & confused to begin with Booblay, mainly due to completely new surroundings & the smells of the other animals.
Just quietly sit close by them & let them come out from under the bed to investigate you. Put their food down close to where you are sitting. Also if you have any dangly sort of cat toys, you could encourage them from under the bed with one of them.
