I have failed

I have spent the week trying my best to convert my brother into vaping and not smoking.

He tried I will say that but he is so set in his ways he refuses to see the benefits and says he is now too old to try new things, he is happy with the fags and they are cheap in Spain he cannot see a reason and I quote ' to put myself through all that palavar just to have a smoke, my mates in the pub would laugh their hats off if I went in there with one of these things.'

So, I now have more new battery kits for me to keep and loads more juices which I bought for him to take with him.

Well done for trying though, he may come round later but it is hard for us to accept that vaping is not for everyone.

Awwwe.. that's a shame Phoenix ... you can only try.. isn't it funny how peer pressure got most of us into fags and peer pressure stops most from getting away from them.

Got a mate who is exactly the same, he's tried some of my mods and in his own words thinks vaping is brilliant, so I've given him stuff to get started with but everytime he turns up he's on the smokes.

As Des says, you can lead a horse to water.....

I think some of it may come down to being able to organise yourself. I've a mate who's the same - gave him kit, but he still smokes. Generally because it's easier to buy a pack and light up I guess...?

If you can setup your kit ready for each day, then vaping becomes second nature, in my mind.

Like everything else in life Phoenix, it has to be a personal decision. If someone tells me they can't afford to smoke but don't want to give up, I tell them about e cigarettes if they haven't heard of them, but if they're not interested, I leave it at that and never mention it again. But at least they're aware of them as a possible option maybe one day, for health reasons or whatever.

Its a shame but don't kick yourself,he has got to want to try giving up,we are all the same and will defend even a bad habit until common sense kicks in.......I work with a 63 yo at work,he like me smoked rollies and had all his life,we both had to climb out a window at work to have a ciggie when we were in out tea/rest room,for every one time I went out there he went three times,he had never tried to give up and didn't seem to want to try,where I was always trying,suddenly at the start of this year he developed a cough it got worse and worse,he was wrenching badly at times,it wouldn't go and somewhere at some point he read or was informed that a cough like this could be a sign of lung cancer,I never saw someone drop ciggies and give up like he did,seeing the doctor and using patches and he has now been 6 months ciggie free,the cough has all but gone thank god and it was probably the one and only way he was going to give up as this scared him,not everyone gets this sort of warning before its too late.....sorry to rant on.......I suppose what I am trying to say as never give up trying,one day you might just get through,if at first you dont succeed.............

My MIL asked me to buy her a good kit and juice, which i did and even after me showing her exactly how everything works she hasn't touched it once. I think it is because she had a scare and was awaiting chest xray results, as soon as they came back clear she decided to carry on smoking.

I think it is rediculous in this day and age armed with all the information not to at least give smoking alternatives or cessation devices a go. If they don't work so be it but how can you know without trying?

Tis one of them things guys, I'm on the other side of a cancer scare now, (by cancer scare I mean I beat the b--stard, 9 operations, ten years of my life fighting) I'm short of a few bits n bobs but hey, ask me if I'm bothered.

The next time somebody gives you wiffle waffle, just smile and nod, because they aint worth your time or considerance.

Thanks for your input guys/gals, I feel better now, as you say it really is his choice and no amount of persuasion is going to make any difference.

At least I won't have to buy any more batteries,liquids and stuff as I am well kitted out now.
