You know, if he can't be persuaded to look elsewhere, maybe you could dangle the "money" carrot in front of him. I'd expect a long-term user of an SD keyring and "trog's" cartomisers could do it all for half the cost. www.cavecom.com/screwdriverSD/shopSD/sdkeyring.shtmlI was smoking my Paradise Vape blister pack special (silver with musical notes on it - very elegant!) in front of him and he just guffawed and said Is that a fashion statement? Maybe if I show him some more butch looking ones? He's not a gadget person at all and views anything that doesn't look like a cigarette with great suspicion. The other friend who was with us (still on about 30 a day cigs, buys in bulk on weekend trips to France/Ostend) is thinking about ecigs but again is determined to go for something that looks like a cigarette. I find it weird that two heavy, lifelong smokers (they are both in their 70s so we are talking 50+ years of smoking) won't even consider more powerful options while I (never more than 20 a day, 10 a day on average for the last 10 years and 'only' smoking for about 35 years) found cigalikes very unsatisfying. As djs said, it just shows how different addiction is for everyone. cheers Gilly

I gather these are not highly thought of on this forum, but was chatting to a friend today, he smoked 30-40 cigs a day for about 40 years, then for the last 10 years or so (he's about 75 I think) he switched to small cigars, about 10 per day. He got a Nicolite in January and since then has only had a couple of cigs bummed off fellow smokers when he's had a battery crisis (he has family in France and goes over there quite often, last month while he was there they had a 3 day power cut and he was getting really nervous by the time the power came back!) I've tried cigalikes in the past with zero success but Kev is still pretty happy with his, so all power to him! He's not in the least interested in upgrading to anything more powerful, and I think his eyes actually glazed over a bit when I was telling him about this forum! cheers Gilly

Ah - just reading posts from new member Pulse and Chrissie mentioned and gave a link for the juice samples again, so that's one thing sorted! Edited to add - oh flip, now I'm confused with the whole PG/VG and 100% 80/20 palaver - Helllpp! Was it VG for throat hit and PG for vapour or vice versa, and what do the percentages/ratios mean? ???

Been rummaging through me drawers ( ) and found some 18mg menthol so I have added a few drops to the clearo and getting much more throat hit now. I need at least one more battery/clearo and unsure whether to get another of the same from Paradise Vape (the £8.50 one) or the £7 one - not sure of the difference? Maybe I should buy 2? I haven't even tried any of my old batteries - they haven't been charged for 3 years and batteries weren't much cop back then at the best of times! Browsing though the forum a week or so back someone (Chrissie?) recommended someone selling small sample juices at £1.49 each but of course I can't find the post now and can't find it in my browser history either, does it ring any bells with anyone? I'm down to 6-7 stinkies per day at the moment, and I'm ashamed to admit I've just bought another 100 - I know I'm not ready yet to switch completely to vaping and I don't want to run out, but I'm really hoping they'll be the last. I'm not even sure why I prefer the stinkies really, they are not very strong tasting and I've occasionally had better throat hits from vaping than from 'real' ones so it must be the lighting/ash tapping ritual or something. Don't smoke many away from home these days but I'm taking the ecig out with me rather than a pack of stinkies now so I don't have a choice, but in my smoking den (shed at the bottom of the garden) it's still the stinkies I crave first. Ah, well, just have to keep trying cheers Gilly
Maybe it's a nicotine level issue your having when you decided to spark up immediately after vaping. I know if I'm vaping 16 or 18mg juice it doesn't touch the sides. Fire in the 36mg and I can really feel it then. But I will admit, a lot of my nicest flavors are in 18mg, but then I just get to vape more...
I think this may well be it xs2man, I used the juice James sent me because it is fresh but it doesn't say what strength it is. I'm getting a throat hit mostly when I exhale, which is making me cough a bit. Part of that is probably technique (or lack of!) but I bet it's a bit weak for me at the moment. cheers Gilly

By the way, I really like the name 'stinkie'. So much more descriptive than fag or cig, and analog(ue) just sounds silly. Stinkie sums it up far better and reminds me of why I'm starting vaping again. I think it may take a while though . . .

Gilly let the liquid soak the wicks for about 15-20 mins before using & try not to let the liquid go below 0.8 markings on the side of the clearo or you will get a burnt taste, wash them out & let them dry overnight every 4/5 days to keep optimum taste Oh blimey, it's all very complicated! Does that mean that you chuck away the 0.8 worth of juice each time you wash the clearo? I just vaped for 5 minutes, then lit a stinkie. Whoops.

Thanks for replying so promptly, Karma, you're a star! So, it's filled now, all I have to do is smoke it (sorry, vape it!) I'll let you all know how I get on. cheers Gilly

Okaaay - I ordered the kit from James as recommended by Karma, it arrived a few hours ago - super quick! - and it's charged up. I ordered the musical notes one because I've always sung in choirs, glad I did because they seem to be out-of-stock now. It's lovely and shiny - I can see where you all get "shinyitis" from!
Now, silly question time - is it ready to use? The rather sparse instructions on the back of the card tell you how to refill, but say nothing about filling which suggests there is already liquid in, but I can't see any liquid, and the wick thingy looks dry to me. This newfangled stuff is quite different from what was available 3 years ago!
James has kindly sent me a free bottle of e-liquid (love that guy and his free gifts, he once sent me some lovely long silver metal beads which look great with a black top!) so no problem there, but thought I'd better check with you all first before I do anything silly!
cheers

Padiho, so sorry to hear about your father, just appreciate him while he is still with you! My mum was 93, still driving until her 92nd birthday and still doing her cryptic crosswords right up to the last 3 weeks, so she had a good life but still hard to let go. Karma, that looks a good deal - that's James Stirrat's site, isn't it, I bought some stuff from him the first time round and he was always good value, does he still post on here? Thanks all of you for your good wishes - now I just have to start! cheers Gilly

Hi all
Glad to see the forum is still going strong, some old familiar names still around and plenty of new ones!
My first foray into vaping didn't get very far. At the time I joined I was looking into going for voluntary redundancy at work so had a lot to think about, and a lot of stress. I couldn't seem to quite get the hang of vaping so out came the smokes and the lighter, and vaping went out the window.
I did finish work in July 2010, and became carer for my mother, who then died in May 2011. Over the next 6 months I attended 5 more funerals - my uncle and 4 close friends - so the stress levels rose even higher!
I think I am getting back on an even keel at last now, and need to start looking after myself better, so now is probably a good time to try ditching the fags and having another go at vaping. I have a drawer full of stuff - 510, 901 etc, and bottles of juice, syringes, cartomisers and so on, but most of it is probably useless now, so I guess I will have to start from scratch again.
Hard to know where to start - there seem to be so many more sellers, models, styles, so I'll have to plough through the forum and see what looks good. I currently smoke low-tar cigarettes and smoke around 8-9 a day, not a lot I know, but still costing a fortune and making me wheeze, cough and stink!
Any / all advice gratefully welcomed
cheers

Hi all Haven't posted or even lurked for a while and all my e-cig paraphernalia is languishing in a cupboard! Recently accepted voluntary redundancy - my choice but still a bit stressful, mum (almost 93) been unwell and dog has been in big plastic collar since 1 July with demadex mites - driving us all mad!! So, as I hadn't really got into vaping properly it just didn't do it for me and the old cigarettes have taken a beating. However, I do intend to try again, and the latest news is a real blow. My query is, if I bulk buy e-juice, what is the best way to store it, and how long would it keep? cheers Gilly

Hi James Parcel arrived this morning - what a lovely surprise! Love the beads! And can't wait to try the juices. I'll definitely be ordering from you again, I'm sure, when I get vaping in earnest Thanks again Gilly

Hi James I'm just about to put in an order for you but you've made phone number mandatory on the register form and I'm deaf and don't use phone. I can put a number in but if you ever ring it you probably won't be understood! Much prefer email contact. cheers Gilly
