Hi phtumshk. No a P channel works similar to an N channel but opposite. With an N channel you apply a positive voltage greater than Vds(th) to the gate to turn them on and with a P channel you apply a (in simple terms) 0V to the gate to turn them on. To ensure it turns off you tie the source to the gate with a resistor so when the button is released the gate returns to source voltage. So, what's the benefit of a non regulated mod if the vape does decrease slightly during the day? Why not put in a simple LDO voltage regulator so the vape remains constant especially with parallel mods? Probably don't have enough voltage overhead for the series version unless using a slightly more complicated buck/boost regulator.

Sorry looking at this again it is drawn as an N-Channel FET (source connected to ground). Not the way I imagined it although I have had some wine tonight

Thanks all for your speedy replies. Sorry to others if my question was too technical. It's wasn't meant to be @windows thanks for that. So it is just a P channel with a resistor to tie the gate high once the fire button is released ensuring it switches off fully (keeps the power dissipated in the FET to a minimum during turn off time). Interesting. No protection in these whatsoever. Drive current is dictated by the resistance of the coil which, of course, means once the cells start to discharge the current will also decrease. Next question. Since this isn't regulated does the vape start to suffer as the cells become discharged?

Hiya, I'm curious about what's going on in here. Anyone care to enlighten me, please? I'm actually an electronics design engineer who designs lithium ion battery packs for a living. Not surprisingly high current high reliability 18650 cells. Fancy that . Is it simply a P-Channel FET connected to a switch to ground to fire the 510 connector? I'm also assuming there's no battery management in these so you have to take the cells out to charge? I haven't looked at what displays you're using but I assume these are designed for vape purposes. Chinese? Does anyone have a schematic you can share? P.S what does squonking refer to?

Hiya, too far away from me to help unfortunately. If you don't get anyone on here can I suggest, if you've identified where the wire goes to and if you have one local one near you, a mobile phone repair place? They guys always have solder irons and know how to use them.

Nice jtcI'm currently looking at a Starter Kit for DIY and found this: thee-cigshop.co.uk/Standard-DIY-Mixing-Starter-KitThe reason I've picked this (compared to other shops) is because of the higher VG bottle value (others are equally sized PG and VG bottles) since I use 70 or 80% VG and therefore the VG will last as long as the PG. If anyone has any reservations as to why I shouldn't order this I would be glad to hear it. Apologies for seemingly hijacking this thread but I'm sure other new people may have similar questions

Thanks kreed . Understand that fully. Steeping is like, marinading, whereas throwing everything in a pot and cooking it at once might give you something that tastes alright but it will never be a 5* recipe But that's only painful for the first month while you're waiting for your first batches. This is the bit I've been thinking/worrying about. Because I'm new my juice collection is tiny and vaping as I go so that first month waiting on juices steeping will be painstaking. However, I do like fruits so that might work in my favour in that I could throw something together for an initial vape whilst the others are steeping. I think I'm gonna buy a 'starter' DIY kit but I'll put my own thread together once I understand the questions I want to ask. Thanks again

kreed, I'm starting to think about getting some ingredients but I'm a bit confused about steeping. Do all juices need to be steeped? Do only some flavours need to be steeped? Are there any that don't need to be steeped at all?

Sorry. Ended up being busy yesterday and didn't notice the replies. The off ramp is the Linwood off ramp and the store is B&M which is in the retail park. It's a huge stand alone building...the B&M that is not the retail park.

Hi ruffdog there's one at Linwood about a mile and a half from the RAH and just off the M8 and en route to the hospital. Essentially over the Erskine bridge and it's the off ramp just before the St James's interchange. Turn right at the roundabout and it's next to the Asda at the Phoenix Centre car place. You cannae miss it. It's not wee...it's a muckle one. Search google maps for directions. Then you head out of Linwood and towards Paisley and you'll see the signs for the RAH. I no longer live in Elderslie so can't tell you what they have in stock. Good luck and hope you get better

I'll echo what the others say. You don't even need to buy an expensive cable unless you want to use it for data transfer for your phones or tablet. All USB cables have 4 wires inside, D+, D-, V+ and 0V. The D's are for data transfer and the V+ and 0V for power to the device for charging.
As @yinyang says your mod will only take the current it requires to charge then the current will taper off as it becomes fully charged.
As long as it has the correct micro USB connector you'll be fine.
