I began to realise that I had loaded the wrong firmware on when the download file name had no reference to AL85, just Alien, but in my rush to update I didnt spot this to my detrament !

Sydsut, I cant look back at my internet history as its been cleared and i deleted the download folder with the upgrade files so i cant answer this sorry. Hi,
Tried to update firmware and now screens gone all fuzzy and i dont know how to mend this. The battery was out and the button depressed during upgrade. It recorded a pass but as i say the screen is not displaying anything meaningful.
Any assistance appreciated.
EDIT : Just so not to put anyone off purchasing an Alien AL85 by reading this thread. These was nothing wrong with the unit - it was a silly user problem (me!) not downloading the correct firmware upgrade

I never had any of the older SMOK mods due to a lot of bad reviews which put me off buying them. Was almost tempted with the H priv but again, there were better options for me at the time. Then the Alien came along and had to have one and never looked back after that and as striker42 says, I have 1 for every day of the week  Was tempted with the Skyhook and the AL85 as they use the same board and should perform as good as the Alien but the Alien being able to take various tanks and dual battery in a good size is perfect for me. The SMOK tanks on the other hand give nice flavor and vapor but coils are not the cheapest, and I find they tend to leak a little here and there. Being able to vape at 200 odd watts as a bit of a gimmick for me and most won't need that kind of power but it was fun having a try. Baby beast is nice but 3ml tank means filling it all the time. AL85 is a pico in SMOK clothing so should be just as good if not better and think you will be happy with it  marksixysix, Thanks. What tanks do you use on your AL85 ? |

Hi all,
Have been looking at SMOK kits and just trying to decide what would be best. Not used SMOK before so i was hoping for some feedback on quality, performance etc.
Don't really need sub-ohm or anything. Just something where i can taste the liquid ok and can create decent clouds !
Any help appreciated.

I vary the flavour generally so should not acclimatise to taste buds.
The liquid I have is 6mg 70/30 VG/PG
This is a new atomiser coil so should be fine.

I am not getting much taste from the liquid I am using at the moment but not sure if its got something to do with the set-up I have on my new Coolfire TC100. I have a 0.5 ohm atomizer on 25 w.
Any guidance would be most helpful.

Coolfire IV TC100 has been working great for me for a few weeks. I pair it with an Aspire Cleito tank which I find to be in a different league better than the the one that came with the kit.
