So! Thank you everyone for your suggestions. I'm still open to ideas, but my current thinking is that I should go for something like this: vapourhut.com/e-cigarette%20kit/vh-starterThat gives me plenty of prefilled cartomisers, so I shouldn't run out before I figure out what I'm doing. But perhaps I should also look around for a sample pack of other flavours, and a PCC so I can recharge my batteries while I'm on the go. Does that sound about right?

South Woodford just down the road. That is close. So have we got any brick and mortar shops down our end of the Central Line that cater to vapers, as far as you know?

If you are going to be using mini's a lot then a PCC (personal charging case) is pretty much essential, juggling charging batteries that only last an hour or 2 is a massive pain. Don't feel you have to select a kit with that in mind though, they can be purchased seperately. Yeah, I definitely need one of those. So maybe I'll try to find a cheap kit and buy a PCC separately. Or not! Dunno yet.

Hi again all!
Thanks very much to everyone for the kind welcomes and advice. Lots to consider here. Some thoughts on some of the stuff that looks particularly interesting:
The Skycig kit does indeed look decent value for £11.99, but the quit32 code's expired as of Jun 30th. Unless there's a new code, paying £49.99 for it doesn't seem like much of a plan.
As other starter kits go, the VapourHut Starter Kit and the TECC Microlite Cartomiser Kit from Totally Wicked both look more reasonable. The VH one is giving me 10 cartomisers; but the TECC one is giving me a portable charging case, and I can see that coming in useful.
The 510 Mini Tank Starter Kit does look nice, but am I getting all that much more for my money than I'd get for the (cheaper) Rechargeable E-Cig (510) from VapeEscape or the Safercigs Intro Vapour?
I'll think on this, and of course any more thoughts and suggestions would be very welcome.
Thanks!

Hi all!
I'm new here; I've decided to try to switch to e-cigs, and I've been reading through your fine forum and also e-cigarette-forum.com to work out exactly how. But I haven't quite worked it out yet. So I thought I'd join up here and ask, and see if you could help.
I've been trying to cut down on my smoking, on and off, for ages. I swing back and forth between rolling tobacco (cheaper, but I always smoke loads of it and feel awful) and Richmond menthols (I can get down to 10 a day, but £25 every week is still more than I really want to spend on smoking). I've managed to give up before, but I always relapse when I'm down the pub with my mates, who all smoke. Just lately I've tried gum, but I'm not liking it. The truth is, I may not want to stop smoking enough to do it. But I think I might be able to switch to vaping.
I've only had a quick puff on someone else's e-cig before, but I've been reading up on vaping, and I think it could be the answer. I don't see how it can possibly be as unhealthy, and in the long run it might even work out cheaper. And I should still get all the fun of smoking, or even more fun.
Now, I know there's a script here. As I said, I did try to read and search and find the answer for myself first. It goes like this: I say I want a an e-cig that's the size of a normal cigarette. You have heard this a thousand times before and say, no, you don't, you want a Riva. I say, no, I want normal size. And I come back in a couple of weeks and say I want a Riva after all.
Okay, so maybe I do want a Riva. It looks like a fine thing to smoke at home, and I may well invest in one if the e-cigs plan works out. But my main problem, remember, is I relapse when I go down the pub. I live in East London. There is no way I am ever going to be waving something that looks like a pipe around, while visibly intoxicated, outside the pubs where I live. People here aren't going to think "nicotine replacement therapy". At best they're going to think "hash", possibly even "crack". Even if I explain that this is actually a highly recommended e-cigarette and a wise investment on my part, a few may think "valuable". That's the worst case scenario, but I'm not going to risk it.
I'm going to need something smaller to take out with me, and I'm likely to need it long-term. I can probably get away with something slightly bigger than an actual cigarette, maybe it doesn't have to be super-mini, but it will need to be mini. It doesn't have to be white; black might be better. I'm not going to pretend it is a normal cigarette; it just can't be huge.
So, what's the best long-term investment for me, and where can I get it most cheaply? Budget is a factor, but I can still spend a bit more now if it's going to save me later.
Sorry for the long post. Thanks to anyone patient enough to read this far, and I'll be even more grateful to anyone who can help!
