Hi all!
I'm new here; I've decided to try to switch to e-cigs, and I've been reading through your fine forum and also e-cigarette-forum.com to work out exactly how. But I haven't quite worked it out yet. So I thought I'd join up here and ask, and see if you could help.
I've been trying to cut down on my smoking, on and off, for ages. I swing back and forth between rolling tobacco (cheaper, but I always smoke loads of it and feel awful) and Richmond menthols (I can get down to 10 a day, but £25 every week is still more than I really want to spend on smoking). I've managed to give up before, but I always relapse when I'm down the pub with my mates, who all smoke. Just lately I've tried gum, but I'm not liking it. The truth is, I may not want to stop smoking enough to do it. But I think I might be able to switch to vaping.
I've only had a quick puff on someone else's e-cig before, but I've been reading up on vaping, and I think it could be the answer. I don't see how it can possibly be as unhealthy, and in the long run it might even work out cheaper. And I should still get all the fun of smoking, or even more fun.
Now, I know there's a script here. As I said, I did try to read and search and find the answer for myself first. It goes like this: I say I want a an e-cig that's the size of a normal cigarette. You have heard this a thousand times before and say, no, you don't, you want a Riva. I say, no, I want normal size. And I come back in a couple of weeks and say I want a Riva after all.
Okay, so maybe I do want a Riva. It looks like a fine thing to smoke at home, and I may well invest in one if the e-cigs plan works out. But my main problem, remember, is I relapse when I go down the pub. I live in East London. There is no way I am ever going to be waving something that looks like a pipe around, while visibly intoxicated, outside the pubs where I live. People here aren't going to think "nicotine replacement therapy". At best they're going to think "hash", possibly even "crack". Even if I explain that this is actually a highly recommended e-cigarette and a wise investment on my part, a few may think "valuable". That's the worst case scenario, but I'm not going to risk it.
I'm going to need something smaller to take out with me, and I'm likely to need it long-term. I can probably get away with something slightly bigger than an actual cigarette, maybe it doesn't have to be super-mini, but it will need to be mini. It doesn't have to be white; black might be better. I'm not going to pretend it is a normal cigarette; it just can't be huge.
So, what's the best long-term investment for me, and where can I get it most cheaply? Budget is a factor, but I can still spend a bit more now if it's going to save me later.
Sorry for the long post. Thanks to anyone patient enough to read this far, and I'll be even more grateful to anyone who can help!

Hi Jamie. Lol some of your post was very funny A riva would be your best bet for most of the time I think Lasts a long time and useful for most situations and really doesn't look like a crack pipe #icon_rofl# however if you are looking for something smaller for while you are out. A 650 battery or SD keyring may be more your thing . My 650's have pretty patterns on the but think you may want to go for something plainer . This is a very good kit www.vapeescape.co.uk/vape%2Descape%2Dvision%2D900%2D%2A%2Afree%2De%2Dliquid%2A%2A%7E345Jason is great and will help yo find what you need Someone else will be along soon i Imagine to confuse you less This is a great forum and welcome

Hi Jamie and welcome I have no idea about the riva. I have a lavatube and a mini argento (cos it's more ladylike when out and about).. But I'd go with what folk say and buy the riva for private use and something smaller for out and about. That seems like a good compromise. Just make sure you're fully kitted out in gear when you're intoxicated (like before ) jane

Hi, and welcome. The links posted above are all good ones and as per your description of what your wanting, I wold say that you should look at them and see what you like. If there is one that eakes your fancy, post back and everyone can give you the ups and downs of that particular model. As for saving money, Great Idea, like it, that was my plan too. Unfortunatly I like it so much I think it has become a hobby and I am at the moment spending more than I wold of been if I carried on smoking. Saying that I am enjoying it, I love the health benefits, and the thing is that everything I spend on vaping, is not wasted, If I have something that I dont like I can either swap it for something I do, or sell it on. That is the good thing about vaping, nothing goes up in smoke

Welcome from me too jamie. If you look in the Suppliers section of the forum you will find a list of recommended vendors (and a list of discount codes!). Most of them do starter kits that might fit your bill. Several possibilities have been linked above, here are a few more worth looking at: www.safercigs.co.uk/Starter_Kits/cat705284_1085794.aspx

Hi and welcome. Honestly I had to laugh while reading your post. East London (Where I was brought up) so, I can see where your coming from regarding going out with the Riva. My advise to you as a newbie myself is to buy the Riva and not worry what others will think! why? honestly I started with a skycig, very nice, lovely size gives a good drag lol but, the battery's bored me. I up graded to a 510T, I'm happy with it, good kit, it's longer than a skycig and the battery lasts longer. Now lets get to the Riva, well after buying the 2 previous kits, I purchased a Riva, because the battery lasts much longer, nearly all day but honestly when you vape on that machine it gives you such a buzz you won't care where you carry it lol But, if you want something which doesn't stand out I can only recommend the skycig, cos it's the one I've tried. It looks real. feels real gives a cigarette like vape, but needs constant charging. www.skycig.co.uk/But, not bad for £11.99 if you use discount code quit38 2 batteries 5 prefilled cartomisers a chargable carry case charger

That SkyCig kit if you get it for £11.99 is a good price. Just remember you don't have to buy their expensive cartos for it. Any with a 510 thread will fit. If you wanted pre-filled something like this would work with it (and can also be re-filled if you choose to) www.vapeescape.co.uk/pre-filled-510-cartomisers-%285%29~380
